But since in a terse language like J or K it may take longer to think up a good name than to write the code, it's handy that one doesn't have to have names for everything when prototyping.

What's the cost of reading it?

Just use comments to roughly convey what a line of code does, and then for more precise understanding, take the time to read through it?
