I hate brutalism in architecture. You can have usability without losing warmth. That said, I love minimalism on the web (and not just because I’m a programmer and not a designer). I love plain html sites, and I think spending all your design time on typography can yield a really zen and snappy website. Unfortunately, what the web really lacks is uniformity across sites, which can be confusing to users. I’d much prefer everyone use semantics tags and let the user decide on the styling, or use a browser default. CSS shouldn’t even be a thing.
