This resonates with me as I've been there once already in my life and felt the same thing. A very sudden life-changing situation popped up unexpectedly and I just had to dig my heels in and push forward. You really find out what you're made of when failure is not an option. It turned out great and got me a job at a Fortune 500 while still in college, but admittedly I've had trouble replicating that tenacity ever since. There has to be a term for the phenomenon, but you feel like you're in this advanced state of mind and somehow you just know you're going to hit the ball out of the park if you keep working.
