Adobe should plaster Facebook and flash-gaming cites with "play this game for free on Android - iPad just can't handle the flash" ads.
I do love Apple products, but they consistently alienate me. Given that the PSP has seemlessly handled Flash for me (with lower processing power) the iPad just looks like a giant clunky text viewer to me.
SBSettings (and the Congruence skin), Grooveshark, Fake carrier, RandomRing, MyWi, Backgrounder. Grooveshark is a big one for me since it's the only streaming service we have in Canada.
I could live without any one of them but when I reconsider my jailbreak they all add up to make my phone, well, my phone. I could live without them, but I won't.
Patiently waiting for iOS4 to be jailbroken for the 3GS with the new bootrom. Then I'll be able to cross Backgrounder off the list.
I don't use it, but there's a call recorder which is pretty neat. And My3G, which allows you trick apps into thinking you're on WiFi when you're on 3G. Oh and screen recorders too. Lots of useful stuff.
sjs I don't know if you're into indie music, but my side project http://mixest.com/ should work in safari on the ipad (we're working on an ipad app as well to make it easier to use).
Yes and no. I don't really blame them for disallowing system extensions (Backgrounder, SBSettings, fake carrier, call recorder, etc). They can be useful, and they can also be privacy and security nightmares.
I tolerate having to jailbreak because I'd probably end up carrying an iPod around anyway, and from the outside it seems that using cooked ROMs is the norm in the Android community. Maybe the situation on Android is better if you have a well-supported device. Nexus One users got Froyo quickly enough.
My next device might run Android. We have a Nexus One at the office that I'm going to carry for a week and see how I like it.
Notice he doesn't actually demonstrate playing any of the games. Mainly because it's not immediately obvious how you could do it on a device with no mouse & keyboard.
Definitely a big issue, but there are quite a few mouse-only Flash games that work well on a touchscreen. We have a mobile version of Kongregate (targeting Android of course): http://m.kongregate.com
How does one come about to finding the mobile Kongregate? I use your site quite regularly, and never even considered that there would be a mobile site available.
(Off Topic: Love the highest rated comments system, and your website in general.)
Every game he loaded up required a keyboard. Oops. Oh and there were Flash ads on Newgrounds. Yay?
TED talks, Slideshare, and blip.tv would have made far more compelling demos. Lots of good content trapped in Flash on those sites. Until they move to HTML5 I would use Flash on an iPad for those sites.
I want Hulu as well. In Canada our only real choices are iTunes and copyright infringement. I'm not paying $3/show for DRM encumbered video on iTunes, so...
