Sometimes, amidst all the 'happy holidays' greetings, there is a tendency to forget that this season is not necessarily happy for everyone. To non-Christian people, December 25 is a day like any other. But, for people who are lonely, whether they are estranged from their families or whatever, this season can be intensely sad and difficult. It can be even tougher because of the immense marketing that accompanies this season.
