While I agree with you that node.js is bad, that's not even my issue. I use Vagrant extensively and I might want to spin up 2 or 3 VMs with 2-3GB of ram to test $thing.
Now, I can do that (3*3 == 9 < 16) but, really, it makes the rest of my system just run terribly.
I would personally pay a $1000 premium over the current MacBook Pro for a version with 64GB of RAM.
You could, particularly on *nix machines, but the idea was to provide a more lightweight cross-platform solution that would specifically work on Windows.
Ok. I don't wanna be 'that guy' but... I feel I must point out that all Windows Server SKUs come with IIS, and a optional component of IIS is the SMTP server service which supports 'smarthost' forwarding. It takes about 5 minutes to install and configure.
They should make the black bar a clickable link to the relevant HN submission, or make it so that it has alt text that names the person who has dies, or both.
> I don't think it's possible to be inclusive of everyone who deserves recognition
The goal is not to be inclusive of everyone that is subjectively regarded as being deserving of recognition. The goal is specifically to celebrate Bob Taylor. Nothing more and nothing less. It is a subjective decision - one which you have no control over - as are many aspects of HN. I applaud HN for continuing with the black bar; the lack of someone getting that bar does not devalue their contribution in any manner.
I am only giving feedback. I shouldn't have taken that shot at Jobs I guess, or maybe people are taking my comment as distracting from this celebration of Bob Taylor's life. Sorry about that, not my intention.
Same here, RT2 was one of my favorite games as a kid. I would love to see a modern remaster or, better yet, a new Railroad Tycoon game that preserves the simulation aspects of its predecessor.
