Do manufacturer's advertise these features? Some manufacturers don't even include immobilizers. It would be nice to know which include extra features. Seems like it could be a selling point.

On the contrary unfortunately, it's all secret for the average consumer.

People that never worked in the industry greatly underestimate how much it really costs in R&D and production to make a car. Adding "authentication" and "encryption" in this environment is way more complex and has more implications than importing yet another library in a web app.

Even so a few manufacturers go to a great deal of effort to secure their stuff while others are using 20y old architecture because it works and it saves money.

I want to say that "premium" brands are much better, but there are a lot of exceptions. However cars with lower margins and lower overall cost will be worse.

If they don't come it and don't resign themselves, then I assume google would fire them in which case they would get severance? Is that how it works? It's only an issue if the people who wfh resign then they would not get severance/unemployment?

In the case of not coming in it’s kind of a gray area right now. Some stipulate failing to come to the office would be a failure to perform and so the employee would be fired without severance but still be able to collect unemployment.

People who resign would be quitting on their own accord and would not be able to receive neither a severance nor unemployment. That’s why resignations are probably Google’s ultimate goal.

I'm sure that everyone that Google would fire because of this would receive at least the severance prescribed by law: nothing.

Why do they let you stay on the line? It seems detrimental to them successfully scamming the new person they called.

I think their metrics are tracked and thus they want to avoid short calls or hanging up on someone who calls in.

Unfortunately I don't remember as this presentation happened almost ten years ago. I do distinctly remember the one element I mentioned though as it seemed sort of absurd (even though he is obviously not responsible for the NIH budget and would almost surely agree with me that it should be raised).

I have a domain and use it with Gsuite but my domain contact email (to change anything with the registrar like moving the domain to another registrar) is still set to my gmail account. I did that because I thought you could get stuck in a sort of loop if you ever had problems with the registrar. You'd then not be able to potentially access your email to transfer your domain. But the same issue is possible if I lose access to my gmail.com account. How do you handle that situation or do you simply use your domain gsuite account as the admin contact with your registrar?

Additionally, what do you use for your registrar account recovery email? Like if you need to recover your registrar account password? I just can't think of a way to set it up so a free gmail account isn't involved at some point.
