Basically he foresaw people will not be able to own books. He is a genius who *really* does not care about money. That makes all the difference. Very rare to find people with this trait. To top it off he is relentless in his cause. Think if there is any one who can meet these standards. Very few.


I hear this phrase everywhere "Every layer is a change in representation of the previous layer". Is this mathematically proven or is this an assumption looking at the image classification models layer?


That seems true by definition, as each layer is a functional transformation of the previous layer.

I think want they want to imply is "Each layer is a semantically meaningful representation, changed from the previous layer" which I don't think is a verifiable claim (as what is semantically meaningful isn't an objective claim)


Well since the next layer outputs are a linear transformation plus some nonliearity of the previous function, it's a fact that it's a change in representation. But I guess the true question is broader: "Is it proven that the next layer is preparing a feature representation for the next one?".

I don't know if it is mathematically proven, but you can easily see it yourself when making an image classifier with one hidden layer. It has some really good evidence for an assumption, at this point I would call it at least empirical evidence.


The only beef i have with Wim Hof is he says one's attitude matter in following his method. He says a person should be open minded and accept without ego, something along those lines. The problem is its not quantifiable and kind of cop-out, so I don't take it too seriously.


There is no baseline to measure against candidates as opposed to competitive programming problems


If you work at a normal pace and did not make any mistakes your teammates will have a good opinion of you which is the only thing that will impact your managers impression on you. These are the only important things as they related to performance improvement and career growth.

Since you have made a mistakes that moved the release dates, it takes a long time to change the impressions.

If you ask me, just switch company and start from scratch. This might be unpopular opinion but this will save time in years w.r.t to career growth.
