Not a dig at you, but I see you plugging this on everything even remotely similar to your app. With the caveat that your product is not even out? Is the intention just to build hype?
No, the intention is to build a waitlist to get feedback from target users. I'm following sort of a similar plan the Linear guys went with[1].
EDIT: It also gives me a lot of motivation to see people liking what I build and waiting to use it - which takes tremendous tall on me since I'm working on it 24/7 every day for the past 7 months.
I think my reason for commenting was because the way you comment makes it seem like the product is out to try / "check out my product!" but the product doesn't even exist.
My setup is to get a dumb phone, uninstall every unrelated applications on my laptop, install everyting related to the current personal project, test to make sure, and then stay in a cafe without wifi for a few hours.
It is probably a lot cheaper than staying in a motel as John Carmack did.
Second this. The only downside is so many options and presets but when you find one it's magic. For a very small fee you can export a custom mp3 which further eliminates the potential for fiddling
> Duolingo creates dopamine hits under the facade of learning a language (which you never do).
If you're using duolingo as your only source for learning a language, yeah.
It's a flashcard app when you get to brass tacks. You won't learn a language by only use flashcards.
Because people who really need the privacy can be identified. Ideally, you want to help them so that their browsing don’t stand out (so that their browsing and yours are virtually the same).
I mean, isn't the only way to go about that to be completely vanilla or do what the masses do, then? Because if you start blocking all these cookies, canvas, javascript, etc- won't your browser's fingerprint be even more unique since you'd be the only one who's traffic data would be incomplete?
Spaces I suppose. Very easy, clean work/personal separation. That and the bookmark/tab conflation thing they're doing is actually kind of nice once you get used to it. Oh, and sync'ing cross device is nice as well.
I don't use any of the easel or boost stuff. I'd prefer if they stop working such silly things and focus on bringing their mobile app up to par but seems like they'll get there.
>They took gritty and energizing chip tune music and replaced it with breathy, gentle wind instruments. It fits the aesthetics of the game but it's so boring.
I felt the same but I didn't really know what was wrong with it until I read your comment. It is beautiful, but it's just... lacking something for me.
I'd previously described it as a "soul-less remake" but I think perhaps it's just taken in a direction that didn't sit true to the original. Whereas, if you look at the recent Super Mario RPG remake, it's got the same vibe and soul as the original game.
I think that’s largely attributable to the very wise decision to not mess at all with the game’s character animations. Very keen understanding of one of the most charming aspects of the original game.
Seems a bit disingenuous is all.
