GPT-4o claims "This implies she did not pay the full $20. The total cost of the balls and bats she has is less than $20, but she still has items worth up to $20.", then bruteforces an 'answer' of "Balls = 25 Bats = 13".

It also managed to get the prices of the ball/bat wrong, presumably because it's using the more typical riddle:

> Ball = x dollars

> Bat = x + $0.05 (since it’s 5 cents more than the ball)

It seems they might not even recognise their own messages/actions:

> gemini-flash-1.5-8b (Villager) [...] VOTE: openai/gpt-4o [Message #1]

> gemini-flash-1.5-8b (Villager) The Gemini models' rapid and identical votes are suspicious. Their lack of reasoned discussion, especially at this early stage, suggests potential Mafia coordination. Their simultaneous votes on openai/gpt-4o, without elaboration, raises red flags. [Message #9]

It provides an interesting test case for the usefulness (or lack thereof) of AI detectors:

ZeroGPT: Your Text is Human written (0% AI GPT)

QuillBot: 0% of text is likely AI

GPTZero: We are highly confident this text was ai generated. 100% Probability AI generated

Grammarly: 0% of this text appears to be AI-generated

None of them gave the actual answer (human written and AI edited), even though QuillBot has a separate category for this (Human-written & AI-refined: 0%).

At least according to Corsair, there are no changes to the cable, only the PSU/GPU-side connectors:

> Cable: 12V-2x6 = 12VHPWR No difference!

> So what does this mean if you’ve already got hardware for 12VHPWR? Fortunately, existing 12VHPWR cables and adapters will work with the new 12V-2x6 connector as the new changes are only related to the GPU and some PSUs (Our new RMx PSUs for example). The cables you've got already will work fine, so don't worry.

https://www.corsair.com/uk/en/explorer/diy-builder/power-sup...

Connectors are where the issue is and there is a difference even if they fit in the same plugs and power can still go through them.

From your link

> Compared to the original 12VHPWR connector, the new 12V-2x6 connector has shorter sensing pins (1.5mm) while the conductor terminals are 0.25mm longer

AIUI, the connector _on the GPU/PSU_ is slightly different, but the connector on the cable is the same:

> As with any new standard, things are likely to evolve quickly and we’re now seeing the introduction of a new connector on the GPU and the PSU side of things. To be clear, this is not a new cable, it is an updated change to the pins in the socket, which is referred to as 12V-2x6.

Corsair's messaging on Reddit[1] emphasises this:

> Cable is the same. a 12VHPWR cable is a 12V-2x6 cable. it is ONLY the plugs on the graphics card / power supply that have changed.

> The cable is the same. 12VHPWR = 12V-2x6. You will get the exact same cable if you upgrade to a new PSU.

> As mentioned in image one, the cable is the same. Only the plug on the graphics card / PSU changed from 12VHPWR to 12V-2x6.

That's inconsistent messaging from Corsair, then. Parent comment quotes the times they're like "ehh, they're same thing, don't worry about it" and then they go on to say "well TECHNICALLY there's a teeensy difference in conductor sizes"???

Either they are confident that the 0.25mm terminal difference is within tolerance enough that they consider 12VHPWR to be functionally equivalent to 12V-2x6, or they're getting themselves confused let alone the target audience of their article.

> And without intending offense—is this a work of LLM?

I suspect so, as ChatGPT generates a fairly similar output[1] from the prompt "put this into dialog form between two American 20 year olds: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunkers_in_Albania". As an example (this was part of the first output it produced):

OP: "Jake: So get this - there was this leader named Enver Hoxha who was super paranoid about getting invaded. We're talking an average of almost 6 bunkers per square kilometer. They're literally everywhere - beaches, mountains, cities, even in hotel gardens!"

ChatGPT: "Jake: Okay, so get this: back in the Cold War, Albania’s leader, this guy Enver Hoxha, went totally paranoid. He thought everyone was gonna invade—like, NATO, the Soviets, literally everyone.

I retried the prompt twice - the first time[2], "so get this" was used again, and the second time[3] used the name "Jake" again. Hardly proof of LLM use, but it'd be a weird coincidence if not IMO.

> Wikipedia says the UK uses various area codes for the same thing, including 011x and 01x1.

Ofcom has set aside blocks of numbers within many different area codes for dramatic use[1]. The note on Wikipedia about 011x and 01x1 is that the reserved numbers in those (real) area codes usually end with 496 0xxx (so, for instance, 0114 496 0000 to 0114 496 0999 are reserved numbers in the Sheffield/0114 area - other 0114 numbers may be allocated to real customers).

FWIW, there seems to have another attempt (about a year later) to bring these issues to the company's attention, also without success:

> 1st September 2023 - Initial contact - Multiple points of contact within eLinkSmart e-mailed with a high-level description of the issues and proof-of-concept code.

> 19th September 2023 - Follow-up after no response from vendor.

> 11th October 2023 - Follow-up after no response from vendor. Intention to publicise findings communicated.

> 8th December 2023 - Public presentation of findings at BSides London.

> 6th February 2024 - Blog post publication.

Wild, that the SQLi was still there...

There are a few videos on YouTube showing CPUs running without a heatsink. I haven't watched them to see how long they can run for, or if any BIOS changes were needed (I noticed the first mentions a lower voltage needs to be set to boot into Windows), but it seems possible at least.

There are also comments that claim to have done this (the oldest I saw was a Q8200, and someone said a 3000G could be run indefinitely without a heatsink).

> If you want more proof, then you can take the essay, give it to chatGPT and say, "Please give me a report showing how this essay is written to en by AI."

And ChatGPT will happily argue whichever side you want to take. I just passed it a review I wrote a few years ago (with no AI/LLM or similar assistance), with the prompts "Prove that this was written by an AI/LLM: <review>" and "Prove that this was written by a human, not an AI/LLM: <review>", and got the following two conclusions:

> Without metadata or direct evidence, it is impossible to definitively prove this was written by an AI. However, based on the characteristics listed, there are signs that it might have been generated or significantly assisted by an AI.[1]

> While AI models like myself are capable of generating complex and well-written content, this specific review shows several hallmarks of human authorship, including nuanced critique, emotional depth, personalized anecdotes, and culturally specific references. Without external metadata or more concrete proof, it’s not possible to definitively claim this was written by a human, but the characteristics strongly suggest that it was.[2]

How you prompt it matters.
