Matz hates (inline) type annotations and said many times that they're not coming to Ruby. IIUC he only allowed RBS (type annotations in separate files) due to community pressure.
A lot of Rubyists deeply care about code aesthetics and Sorbet annotations are unfortunately quite ugly. There are also RBS comments, which look a bit better, but tooling/LSPs are not quite there yet IME.

I usually use boku and my girlfriend sometimes calls me boku, whether she's talking to me or about me to someone else. There's no confusion because she couldn't be using boku to mean herself.
I'm not a linguist, but it seems like there's no grammatical difference between first/second/third person in Japanese - you can consider all the sentences to be in third person.

The cookie has both user id and a special token which IIRC is a substring of the user's password salt. Retrieving current user from cookie includes not only looking up by id, but also verifying the salt. So if you change the password, the salt is also changed and all the old sessions will stop working.
