Actually another similar post on the front page at the same time: https://bigthink.com/progress/pessimism-is-a-barrier-to-prog... It has a great opening line:

> PESSIMISM SOUNDS SMART. Optimism sounds dumb. It’s no wonder, then, that pessimistic messages hit the headlines, and optimistic ones hardly get a middle-page snippet.

HN is my default 'is the internet working' site and that genuinely threw me for a loop across multiple devices today dealing with hotspots while our power was out.

This headline as it currently stands ("Dark Sky Has a New Home (2020)") is a bit misleading, as the relevant update was posted June 6, 2022 and is announcing the official sunset date for Dark Sky - not just the acquisition.

I read it as saying that dark sky's new home is the ios 16 weather app and the weatherkit api.

As long as a 4-day work week doesn't mean 10-hour work days.

That would defeat the point - time with arse in seat does not equal productivity.

I switched to a 4-day work week years ago, and still work 7.5h each day. I found that I'm much more focused during working hours, and spend less time procrastinating - I'm just as productive as I was before.

I would do 10 hours day for Friday off. Working an extra two hours doesn't put a huge strain as you are already at work or in the work mode. During crunch time I would end up working until 21:00 to 22:00 and I felt it was like exercise in that as long as you don't stop it's not as bad.

You also avoid commute overhead if you work from the office.

Working 5 10 hours work days (at least ) already , four would be great.

For anyone stumbling upon this thread now, Unclack now supports macOS Catalina! I pushed an update today that is available from the landing page. Check it out! Thanks again for your support of Unclack!

Love it! I'm glad that you could bring mic-muting to the wider world outside the macOS Big Sur bubble. Appreciate the shoutout for Unclack!

Thank you! That's very gracious of you to say so, and Unclack is cool :-)

Overwhelmed by your feedback & support! If anyone wants to follow Unclack on Product Hunt, you can check it out here: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/unclack-for-macos

Yeah I can confirm haha. It's dead simple, but also hopefully has the benefit of that simplicity on your performance.

Unfortunately yes... I'm using some of the latest SwiftUI API's to build the UI that I haven't back-ported for Catalina just yet.

Of course my work laptop is also locked on Catalina, so I kind of played myself there as well! I'll definitely consider adding that backwards compatibility in the future if possible.

I'm on Mojave.

Haha Unclack actually does let you configure the Menu Bar icon and mute indicator appearance, including being able to disable the mute indicator altogether! :)

I meant the mute indicator in the video-conferencing app. :)

At least in some apps participants can see for each participant whether they are muted or not.
