> The biggest issue for is that WSL2 is painfully slow accessing the local Windows file system.

This killed me after switching from WSL1 to WSL2. I missed the part in the notes where it said you should no longer store your files outside WSL. Finally figured it out eventually and the speed improvement was huge.

Reader mode appears to only show the first half of the article.

Hardly ideal, but there is a pdf version of the full thing: https://www.researchaffiliates.com/content/dam/ra/documents/...

Same thing happened to me. When i contacted them about it, they claimed the emails were spam and not from them (despite the emails clearly mentioning contacts I had connected with!).

After numerous emails back and forth they eventually added to their "Do Not Contact" list. No emails since!

The price seems to have gone up considerably in the last 5 years. We used to eat kangaroo steaks and burgers regularly, but now we only consider it if it's on sale.

I noticed this as well - a few years ago when I could barely cover rent it was basically the only meat I could afford. Now I think of it as an occasional purchase because it's more expensive than chuck steak.

I guess the price is going to start dropping again once there's too many...

> There is NO EXCUSE for using POLi vs. just paying with your bank

POLi is instant. Bank transfer is anywhere from 1 - 3 days. Until banks finally implement instant transfers, POLi will still be useful to some.

POli uses bank transfers underneath. It just takes control of the browser and makes sure you inputs the correct values for you, like selenium.

Pokemon Go won't be out for Christmas 2015. The release date just seems to be "2016" at this point.

An icon should be present on your Win7/8 task bar which lets you reserve a copy. It does seem to be a gradual rollout though, as mine still tells me it's not available yet.

It's probably quicker to download directly via The Windows 10 Download Tool: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

I can confirm that. I didn't see anything about Windows 10 in the Windows Update window, but upgrading via the tool worked perfectly for me.

Do you have to burn it to a USB/CD as the page suggests, or is does the tool give a way to upgrade in place without doing that?

Edit: can confirm crazysaem's experience. I did an in-place upgrade on a fully-patched 8.1 system and it worked flawlessly and relatively quickly (I kept my apps and settings). I'm not a heavy Windows user though.

You have the option to either create the USB/CD media or do an in-place upgrade. I did the in-place upgrade, which worked without problems for me. They also provide the option to either keep your apps and files or delete them. I chose to delete them, because I wanted a clean install.

The updated help pages only mention the scenario of a worker dyno running along a web dyno.

https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/dyno-types#dyno-sleepi...

It's unclear what happens to apps which just have a single worker dyno. Are we meant to use the scheduler to kill workers for 6 hours a day?

Valve have at least been thinking about that problem for awhile. Back in 2011 they were planning for CS:GO to have cross-platform play between Xbox, PS3 and PC. However, the idea got ditched in 2012.
