Well said. It's so odd that this isn't just the general societal talking point when it comes to LLM's

Sounds like a great thing to build! Seems like a lot of commenters are interested in more granular implementation details :)

Thanks for your insight - it’s comments like this which make HN a place worth visiting every day.

And welcome!

News article likely edited and proofed with AI

Is there evidence of that? Is it badly written? Assuming everyone has already committed to the race to the bottom can only accelerate the feeling of inevitability around it.

> The problem there is twofold. One is that so-called on-device AI hasn’t yet proved to be a major selling point for products such as PCs and smartphones. The other is that Apple’s lack of its own cloud-based AI capabilities leaves the $3 trillion company still in need of powerful allies. The company struck a deal with OpenAI last year to effectively back up its own AI capabilities, and analysts have widely been expecting similar partnerships involving other major AI services, including Google’s Gemini.

Why is the linked post so long?

Thanks for this. I’m surprised they haven’t made this more obvious in their release and other documentation

We can remove all the plastics. 98%. Just not the small ones.

The article is clearly specifically about quote unquote the small ones.

You mean, "the small ones"?

I concur on the sentiment - I think it’s great we don’t have avatars etc here as it makes it more content focused -

But at the same time I think the OP has made an awesome project! Well done

PSA: GitHub has a “private” email feature so you don’t have to use your real email in commits.

https://docs.github.com/en/account-and-profile/setting-up-an...

This is for commits (including merges/rebases) made through the web interface. You don't need a GitHub setting for your local mail. And in any case you could just use a dedicated commit author address if you are that worried.

Seems to be enabled by default, or at least it was on my relatively recent account created in 2022.

Wasn't on mine (account created in 2009).
