any comparisons with RudderStack?

We anticipated that question :)

RudderStack is focusing on replacing Segment.com completely, we focus only on a part of the problem: getting events to DWH. Also, we don't have a UI.

By narrowing down the focus, we think we can do a better job sending data to DWHs. One example: we automatically create SQL schema based on JSON structure. You can send

{ "any": { "custom": "a", "field": "b" } }

To EventNative and we'll create any_custom and any_field columns in DWH table on a fly.

RudderStack founder here.

Because we are Segment event structure/API compatible, there is an inherent structure in events. You can pass arbitrary JSON but only inside the properties or traits field of track/identify call. We do automatically create the schemas for those cases.

Congrats on your launch!! Glad to see more projects in this space. Would love to checkout your repo and share ideas etc.

I agree that the site is amazing. It is especially useful since you can take a day off and schedule multiple phone screens in a day. This enables you to get to a point to be able to line up the onsite interviews close to each other, which is what you want to do to get multiple overlapping offers.

The only disadvantage is that the site did not have enough mid to senior positions and very little focus on positions for engineering manager and above.

Curious what the economics are there in working like this?

* What is the market size of developers companies that pay to have such wrapper APIs?

* What would pricing for something like this look like?

* What is the hit / miss ratio of API ideas?

I was thinking of putting together datasets and listing on similar marketplaces. Anyone have any information to share on this?

I googled a put together a few similar services (not affiliated ) and it seems like pricing varies quite a lot paid package start at 150 to 449 per month (all provide free service though).

The H1B transfer premium processing is currently temporarily suspended (till Feb). This means anyone wanting to change employers, will have to risk joining on H1 transfer receipt alone. Are there any ways / advice to reduce the risk of switching employers.

Unfortunately, there isn't and this seemingly innocuous change has had a profound impact on the hiring of those currently in H-1B status.

reasons (advantages) for using python (or any other dynamic lang.) when in startup mode is more than just typing. Similarly the advantages of continuing to use python outweigh the costs of doing this little "type-dance".

Hi, Recently there was a proposal to do away with Employment Authorization for H4 visa holders. What are some of the next steps you would suggest we take.

I suspect that those with H-4 EADs would be allowed to continue working until their EADs expired so I wouldn't take any drastic measures now other to renew your H-4 EAD as early as possible and possibly apply in the H-1B lottery.

Society6 seems to be way ahead in terms of the number of product lines. http://society6.com

I think you're missing the point of the article.

I learnt by starting to cook Indian food when I moved here. A lot of Indian food has the same set of spices and similar procedures. Soon I realized that I can experiment with the ingredients and vary the spices to change flavor and it did not have an adverse impact on the final outcome. That caused me to loose the trepidation of experimenting in the kitchen and I do it with all cuisines now. And it has worked out well, cause I generally can manage to put a meal together with whatever is left in the fridge.

This is a collection of real world python projects written in 500 lines or less. https://github.com/aosabook/500lines The goal was to be a resource for intermediate python developers to be able to look at real world applications. Hope this helps.

That's a great idea. I've recently started browsing through some of the top-voted questions and answers at http://codereview.stackexchange.com/ to see how coding / scripting can be improved.

Edit: After browsing through the list of projects, I found three which were both interesting / useful to me and (just about) within my abilities:

* Guido van Rossum’s web-site crawler

* Ned Batchelder’s template engine

* Malini Das’ simple Continuous Integration system

Great resource. Does anyone know about other collections of small projects (python, javascript, ...) similar to this one?
