Blaming this on Ballmer is a serious stretch, I can't see how you would come to that conclusion. Developers Developers Developers was for the launch of .NET and it brought us a platform that is still considered cutting edge 25 years later.

UX was fine in the Windows Forms days, and WPF was a large step forward (responsive layouts, etc...). The problem was after that it all fell apart with Windows 8 and the attempt to switch to Metro, followed by the Windows Store fiasco and attempting to move to a sandboxed application model.

It all comes down to Microsoft's failure to adapt to mobile/tablets in so many ways. Which is kind of hilarious, because they had some really cool tech for the time (the PocketPCs were pretty fun back in the day, before touch came along).

Name or color had nothing to do with it imho (I like the brown personally). It was all timing. They were entering a market with a well estaablished leader (iPod) that was nearly as good, as good, or better depending on who you ask. On top of it phones themselves were taking over the music player market at the same time, which is where Microsoft really dropped the ball.

I mean, iPhone is a really ridiculous name as well if you stop to think about it.

You think having a dumb name would be a negative, but one of the biggest bands in the world is called Metallica.

Why is the parent teacher association involved in personal finances?

Sorry if this was a joke, but just in case- PTA = plain text accounting

I’m fairly certain it’s Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty

Does GLM 4.7 run well on the spark? I thought I read it didn’t but it wasn’t clear.

It's a product without a purpose.

Trump can be bad for the economy and the economy can still be fine. The economy doing well doesn't mean Trump was good for the economy. At the end of the day the policies and actions that have been enacted have not been great tailwinds for the economy regardless of the outcome.

Yes but ideas exist like FairTax which directly address this issue in some fashion. It's easy to come up with reasons why something won't work, it is a lot harder to find solutions.

They might still spend $600 on 10 more games though. Or spend it on a subset of the games they pirated because they want to support the developer. Who knows.

If somebody spends $60 on a game but doesn't play it should they get automatic refund?

If the deal is providing entertainment for a price then why the publisher feels entitled to keeping the money if the entertainment didn't happen?

That's the basis of most of the Steam's business.

Does it need to be as complicated as a new format? Or would it be enough to not allow any scripting in the provided SVGs (or stripping it out). I can't imagine there are that many SVGs out there which take advantage of the feature.

Google has incredible tech. The problem is and always has been their products. Not only are they generally designed to be anti-consumer, but they go out of their way to make it as hard as possible. The debacle with Antigravity exfiltrating data is just one of countless.

The Antigravity case feels like a pure bug and them rushing to market. They had a bunch of other bugs showing that. That is not anti-consumer or making it difficult.
