Congrats on the launch. Looks great! Do you envision this being used as the primary IDE or just for quick changes/tweaks while the main development is done on a standard IDE eg VSCode?
Thanks! I think we want to get good enough to take over the front end and your IDE is there for backend things but I think it’s a long road to get to that place. For now I feel comfortable promoting that it’s great for small tweaks and style changes but I think it would be pretty disingenuous to tell anyone to ditch their IDE at this point. With that said, we keep building features to make the full IDE dream a reality.
This is a novel computer vision framework with two unique capabilities:
1- it can learn very complex visual events (beyond object detection.)
2- it needs only a few samples to learn an event of interest.
This allows users to train models for any event of their interest easily.
We have been primarily focused on event detection for consumer surveillance cameras but are also exploring use cases in other verticals and believe this technology can benefit any labor-intensive monitoring task by providing a versatile and resilient platform for automation. We would appreciate any feedback and if you have any thoughts on any specific consumer, commercial or industrial applications, we would love to hear about them.
Thanks for sharing. Yes we are aware of them. I’d like to know more about what you’re doing. Please shoot me an email if you’d like to talk: rafiee at visualone dot tech
I agree storage should not be as expensive. I think many companies use that as a leverage to make users pay a subscription fee (due to lack of services that’d compel users to subscribe.)
We are finalizing our privacy policy and will add ASAP. We are not using users data for trading models for other users currently but we do use their feedback on the alerts to improve the models for their own events.
I agree the idea is not unique at a high level but this is an unsolved and difficult problem. We are building a solution block by block. The only event detection features Nest is offering is person detection, unfamiliar face detection, facial recognition.
Thank you! We are now exploring consumer and SMB but may also look into B2B use cases more closely at some point. If you know of any good b2b use case, please do let us know.
That is a great analysis. I completely agree with everything you said. We are currently targeting consumer and SMB use cases and not enterprise/large scale applications at the moment. Thank you!
I see your point and appreciate the feedback. The main issue with local only is having it to work reliably on different types of hardware would be a major undertaking itself (aside from the technical restrictions that come with it) and would not allow us to focus on building the AI...
