Maybe F-Droid should just call their official blessed repo "F-Repo" to end the confusion, because this is clearly available through F-Droid, just not in the F-Droid official repo...

Being able to side-load a random unsigned binary via the fdroid app, or getting it from the F-Droid repository where they do independently signed (and ideally reproducible) builds, are very different things.

The F-droid team does not have a high bar to be dicks. They do it to ensure their users get binaries that match the published code to prevent increasingly supply chain attacks.

The standards are there for good reason, and if you do not understand those reasons, then use a license that allows the people that do understand to distribute your software for you.

Very very few software engineers understand supply chain attacks or how to prevent them.

The economics don't matter, everything that is regularly updated or offers a service needs an Impressum. The exception for "purely personal or familial" use clearly doesn't apply here because a service is being provided actively.

Here’s the law: https://dejure.org/gesetze/TMG/5.html

It mandates a Impressum for „ geschäftsmäßige, in der Regel gegen Entgelt angebotene Telemedien“. If it’s not geschäftsmäßig (Business-Like?), you don’t need an Impressum. If you do it for free without any intention to make money now or later, it’s not geschäftsmäßig.

If I have a blog that I update regularly but don’t have any ads from or take donations for, I don’t need an Impressum.

No matter how the court case goes, there's enough goodwill destroyed that he could rename himself Hazmatt by now.

This is a non-story launched originally by Cicero, a center-right magazine incapable of basic reading comprehension. That higher-quality publications just regurgitate it instead of actually doing their journalistic duty is appalling.

Can you elaborate on where this article goes wrong other than citing a 'center-right magazine'? I did look a bit deeper into the shenanigans around the 'atomausstieg' and think is a good thing that the 'higher-quality publications' (?) are picking up on this.

Short: look at the message, not at the messenger. Doing the latter is often a sign of a lack of arguments against the former.

It's clever phrasing. You may generally assume they the boss won't see every piece of paper, Cicero suggests that it's true in this case. It's a fairly safe suggestion, because what single person sees all the paper?

The most relevant minister immediately went public and stated that he had a paper trail showing that he had seen everything relevant. I'm going to step out on a limb and suggest that if Cicero didn't know about that paper trail, its knowledge of what happened was... limited.

Replying to myself: I translated badly there. "Process" is much better than "see". And the minister replied to say that everything was read, evaluated and processed properly, and the paper trail to prove it is in proper shape.

Cicero suggested that something was suppressed, leaving the user to make an incorrect conclusion. The shadiness of that suggestion remains, even with the proper translation.

For the record: that is not true at all. It's s big scandal being swept under the rug by the government and their henchmen

The Pricing link doesn't seem to work right, it gives me a contact form instead?

This is a deal breaker for me. You might have the coolest product but in this space I’ll buy something I can quote the price for to management without having to waste my time trying to talk to a sales rep.

Seems intentional, at the bottom:

> The journey continues with even more to explore. Contact us for pricing

I flagged this post because it's just spreading FUD (in the traditional meaning) at this point. The fritz.box domain had been registered in January, but someone (likely AVM) quickly contested the registration and it was disconnected in March. It is currently in the settlement and resale phase, so very likely AVM, the makers of Fritz! Box, will just buy the domain and ensure it responds NXDOMAIN to any query or something. While I still believe that using a non-reserved domain like 'fritz.box' as their internal domain and suffix is just dumb, they are aware of the issue and working on a resolution that appears sensible.

(I am the author)

The fact is that currently DNS requests are forwarded to an unknown entity. The matter is not resolved yet and there is no guarantuee it will be resolved. Imo there's no FUD here. I will happily correct any factual errors ofcourse.

Unfortunately, I'm still getting the error even after switching this on.

Actually, recent counter-cultural fakelore: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legend_of_the_Rainbow_Warriors

That’s why I don’t use the quote, but the sentiment is quite lovely this time of civilization don’t you think?

I really love this one though:

That's "super massive", not "stellar mass", right?

This is pretty great. Is anyone aware of a model that can apply this to timestamped text, such as in subtitles?
