Look at Grist.

You maybe justly concerned for it being an open source project that is backed by one small company that sells hosted plans.

The difference is that Grist is a core part of the French Government’s open source web applications La Suite

Second Grist it is very cool we use a lot of it. You can run python as a column/ cell and it doesn't have a lot of the limitations of Airtable. Usage tiers are ridiculously large. Free api. I am almost hoping they charge more so they stay in business.

Honestly the "charge by data" is probably missing some things. We have quite a few users on the free tier. I found out my ops guys were optimizing the data to keep on the free tier because it would jump from zero to [something still reasonable] but would be a multiple of seats. They would pay you SOMETHING but the big jump to MORE seemed too much for them lol.

They are on Grist by my recommendation after searching for tools. I just checked in on it after 6 months and they have built their entire manufacturing process management on it... Good stuff.

By the way, Grist has a very good Airtable migration tool. https://www.getgrist.com/airtable-alternative-self-hosted/

It brings over column types, references, attachments, and simple formulas intact. Even brings over choice/select colors!

On macOS i use Safari for PWAs. It is just fine.

But I use Firefox as my primary browser. PWA support non-existent. They killed their basic PWA support many years ago. There are suggestions they will support it in the future.

On Linux/Windows, I use Brave for PWAs.

It has now been decades since I used Eudora. I still feel I lost the best email client due to Qualcomm’s neglect

This morning I think I found a minor bug is the installable PWA web app. chromium, Brave and I expect other browsers show a white bar with the URL at the top of the PWA

I believe this is due to the manifest specifying the path ‘/watch/‘ with a trailing slash and not the path we get redirected to without ‘/watch’

I too have had a shortcut for “red filter” + “minimal brightness” + “reduced brightness” for years.

I trigger it by a Triple back tap.

Great for night usage with our eye strain or bothering your spouse

I think they’re talking about going to Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut. I just realized this was a thing, very nice.

Many projectors include remotes that allow you to control a slide presentation. These remotes send the default keystrokes that Microsoft PowerPoint knows (and which other presentation software copied) So when you connect a projector the OS often sees a keyboard and mouse. This triggers macOS’s keyboard recognition tool. Old VGA projectors had separate keyboard/mouse ports. I assume HDMI has a USB channel?

No, it doesn't, it only has I2C (for display identification and control, same as VGA and DVI) and CEC (for remote control).

In the late 90s, I leased Cobalt RAQ servers from RackSpace. During this time, RackSpace had exceptional customer service. I could call support and be connected with a skilled Unix SysAdmin within minutes. Even though I was responsible for the entire system, the would happily login to the system and advise me how how to deal with any issues.

After about 5 years, I called to shutdown my last Cobalt server. A week later, they called to ask if they could ship me server. No Cost

Turns out it was the last of the Colbalt RAQs and the oldest server in their fleet

I often use Pico CSS, and a comparison would be nice.

I remember Le Guin speaking at my university around 1990. She was amazingly open about her writing process. While she did not directly answer questions about the “meaning” of her writing, she did facilitate the discussion about her work’s meaning, and asked the audience challenging questions.

Of all my time at uni, I wish I had a recording of this event.

I understood from students who had attended a writing workshop with her earlier in the day, that she was gifted teacher.

Her book Steering the Craft, is very much her writing workshop distilled into book form.
