Chances are I'll be upgrading to a Ryzen 3000 this year. Now that I think about it the last time I ran an AMD CPU was indeed the K7.

I've gone back and forth a couple times... currently 4790K, before that FX-8150, before that a first gen i7-860, before that and AMD XP/X2 ... Now looking at the r7-3950X.

Of course, this is the longest I've held out on upgrading, and getting itchy about it...

A 2 stroke diesel is different from a 2 stroke gasoline engine. It doesn't have the same environmental issues because there is no oil in the intake. The only downside is it needs a supercharger to work so it's not practical in small engines. Most(all?) large diesels like in trains and ships are 2 stroke because of the better power/weight ratio.

Thanks, I didn't know that.

If there is no oil in the intake, how is it lubricated? Does it have an oil pump and system like a 4-stroke? (with a sump for the bottom end, etc.)

2-stroke gasoline engines such as dirtbike engines are run with oil in the gas (thus oil in the intake) for economic and spatial reasons (removing or shrinking lots of parts like oil pumps, oil pans and ports.

It doesn't really lubricate like a 4-stroke where oil is pumped up and then scraped back down into the pan. It is still pumped up but it is stored in devices inside the cylinder liner where it is only dispersed as necessary. Each cylinder instead has oil squirters (receptacles) in the cylinder liners and essentially when the pressure under the piston is low enough that the system has determined there is insufficient oil, spring pressure from the oil squirters forces out enough oil until the pressure in the cylinder (under the piston) is enough to overcome the spring pressure and thus the oil squirters stay closed [1].

From the website: To apply for one, you need to make visit a Police and Border Guard office in Estonia – there you need to submit an application and provide biometrical data (your facial image and fingerprints) for background check.

I don't think it works for money laundering in any way.

Bulgaria has a corporate tax at 10%. The e-government isn't nearly as developed though. There was some talk about using the Estonian experience to help in building ours but that is still just an idea.

Yeah I am really hoping that Bulgaria and/or Estonia will be added to a list of countries being incorporated by http://startupr.com/ to make the process easier.

The An-124 is the useful large cargo plane. The 225 is more or less a larger version of that for specialized cargo that is rarely needed thus one being enough to service the entire world. If the demand was there I'm sure a second one could be finished quite quickly.

Also the Russians made most of the advances on habitable space stations. Most important achievement for the long term exploration of space IMO. I think it's a shame that many of the achievements will be lost to history for political reasons but I guess it doesn't really matter who did what. The cold war in itself was probably a good thing in that regard.

It is misleading only in that the spending should have been per capita. I don't think that changes the point though which is that however much you spend it is just money wasted. As far as I am concerned money shouldn't be thrown away when the approach obviously isn't working no matter how much you think the goal is worth it. For the record I don't agree that the government should ban substances outright, just make sure they are labeled properly for the harm they do.

You can see when the ISS is in range by watching the live video stream. From what I have seen it's rarely out of contact and they obviously have bandwidth to spare for that.

The rule of law is a great thing. It's a shame when short sighted people enforce the letter instead of the spirit of the law as that undermines order in the long term.

Humanity is a great thing. Laws are simplified ideas, that can be both helpful or oppressive.

Small minded people are generally attracted to this kind of power, so we get far too much of the later.

What is the spirit of the law in this case?

Probably something along the lines of "Do not build dangerous things in your yard, were they could fall on people passing by. Also no ugly stuff." Which could or could not be relevant toward that bookshelf.

From what I understand the container was sealed 11 years after the initial planting. I guess all the carbon entered from the atmosphere before the final watering in 1972. The total biomass must have remained roughly constant since.
