1) Have used it to rewrite a couple prod functions. Can't/won't go into details. 2) It cannot write advanced logic so use with care.

Also even simple stuff it produces buggy code.

Lots of alternatives. I don't use paypal anymore for this reason AND they can freeze all your funds at any time esp involving crypto as they don't cover it in their policies. Beware.

Yes only use it as a buyer!

Shitty. I don't want to use them due to the stories I've heard. They've quite the reputation.

And now they want to do actual placements! It's a shame because I've also found just incredible talent on Upwork and I don't want to not be able to find great people from around the world (for everything from development to jewelry design)

Yep, the stories are true. I can tell

That is BIG illegal.

If there’s nothing else besides what’s stated, near certain that you can find a lawyer who’ll take that case on contingency. Reputation is gonna get spanked.

Because there are people who can self-drive and get themselves to work and become productive without having to be reminded/ridden.

Then there are people who need someone over them (and that's ok).

Most people think they are the self starting type. Most people are LYING or WRONG about their ability to self start & self manage. Most people simply are NOT more productive but think they are. The numbers state otherwise. I'm all for remote work for high performers and self starters but everyone places themselves in that category and it's only true for a small percentage.

Because there are people

Have you considered joining a VFW or other vet centric org? I know a lot of vets who struggle with similar issues, some of them looking for physical work, some of them needing adrenaline, but finding out what they do might help you narrow it down. Nothing in civilian life will be the same as that so you need to be cognizant. Also, a lot of jobs involve sitting in front of a computer screen, alone. So whatever you do, you may want to bear that in mind, and accordingly choose your next path based on the physical aspect of the job. Hope you get it figured out, good luck.

Get on parallel economy and others and take all your business and run away!

No..our work might morph into refactoring AI's spaghetti but a lot of a programmers job is comforting the person that hired them (whether in house or contract), knowing they have someone on hand to solve whatever problem may arise. This simply won't be the case with AI.
