pretty sure there was no humor there, just looks poorly upon the author

It sure reads like it was meant satirically to me. Whether one finds it funny or offensive is up to the reader though, and I assume the GP is basically saying an article should be written such that "or offensive" isn't reasonably on the table.

Screw driver doesnt have agency but it certainly helps me get tasks done faster. AIs don't need agency to accelerate a ton of work

I did not mean to imply that AI isn't helpful already.

But a screw-driving assistant is more useful if he drives in screws on his own than if you have to prompt his every action. I'm not saying that a "dumb" assistant does not help at all.

TensorFleet | ROS Robot Engineer | Onsite & Remote (Bangkok) | FullTime

We are sick of a few companies controlling all robots. Do you have a robot vacuum running around you house? How can we trust a future when a humanoid robot is being tele controlled in our house.

We are building open source software to make open firmware drones a reality. We have a VS Code Extension to make coding ROS and PX4 a breeze for beginners. We are also working on courses for building drones.

Are you excited about building open source robots and do you have experience in Go, C++ (ROS) or Javascript (Vs Code extension development). Drop me an email matt@tensorfleet.net

Funny the app that was made to destroy other peoples lives with anonymous tips that could be fake, hurt the real perpetrators. Almost like it was karma

Reply intended to user zwnow who is banned by HN, so I cannot reply directly.

You confuse intent with reality. The social software under discussion was abused immediately for the criminal purpose of spreading falsehoods about men, both with malicious intent and wilful negligence, which is particularly egregious because the victims were not made aware of the slander. Even if they wanted to defend themselves, they were prevented from doing so because of the institutionalised sexism, men are banned from participating on grounds of their sex alone. The proof for this is in the leaks. You failed to take this into account and hence got downvoted into oblivion, not for the reason you claim.

The other facts you write about are part of a different narrative, they are not directly relevant to kanwisher's proposition.

IMO, we should not have any tolerance for platforms that are designed for gossip because of the boy-cries-wolf effect in backlash because it means if a woman is a genuine victim, people will take the priors into account and most will assume she's a liar, too, and this lets the perpetrators off the hook. I do not want to live in such a society. The way out of this is holding women accountable, they should be punished for criminal behaviour with immediate and drastic consequences, and tenfold so for their enablers. The problem would stop overnight.

Hold women accountable for men being a general threat to them? Sure its their fault \s

That's not what I wrote. You know that, I know that you know, and you know that I know.

If you can't have a conversation with a modicum of respect, then GTFO HN. We don't need pages filled with pretence and stupid arguments that go nowhere and change no one's mind.

Acting like HN was a good platform... Also you argued like an incel so its hard to take you serious

Huh, i stand corrected, thanks! I think this brings both options to similar prices, so at the very least the spirit of the quote is true. Here’s my math:

- My handyman changes $50/hour, but if you find a new person maybe they charge $75-$100/hour

- materials are cheap, probably like $50 total for mud and drywall, or a repair kit

- with two hours labor, the total should be somewhere from $150-$250.

- if the handyman won’t accept a job less than 4 hours, the range is $250-$450.

Pretty stunning they had the factory in Fremont. Those were the days

If you think their software is bad try using any other vendor , makes nvidia looks amazing. Apple is only one close

Pretty much this. Nvidia isn't big because of their hardware, they're not ahead on that front. It's their software support that makes it worthwhile.

Although a bit off the GPU topic, I think Apple's Rosetta is the smoothest binary transition I've ever used.

Keep in mind this is part of Nvidias embedded offerings. So you will get one release of software ever, and that's gonna be pretty much it for the lifetime of the product.

Also a lot of the AI code reviewer tools catch bugs that you wouldn't catch otherwise

Building a VsCode extension for drone coding. So you can easily write code to control a fleet of drones, deploy ai model and even setup training of new Reinforcement Learning models for drone behavior https://tensorfleet.net

Word lens team was bought by google, its far better in google translate then the local app ever was. You could repeat the old app with a local LLM now pretty easily but it still won't be as close in quality as using google translate
