This is not our democratic will. This is the result of the league and the ISPs lobbying very agressively in favour of the blocks.

Everyone is welcome to speak against them :)

This is not an age issue, despite looking like one. This is a matter of agressive lobbying, and putting tons of cash on the case. Major ISPs also offer sports (football) subscriptions, so they are also interested in applying the block.

Everything is paid by the customer. As a manufacturer I can temporaly absorb some costs to keep prices steady, but at some point, I have to adjust prices to maintain a reasonable margin.

So yes, I will pay for my country's tariffs and you will pay for yours.

It's a bad scenario where things are more expensive and both manufacturers and customers get harmed. The only ones winning are, as always, intermediaries.

I remember having built a static site that was 100% xml data and xslt transformers in the early 2000s

Quite fun at the time

Welcome friends!

Forcing you to hand your phone password and expose all your personal intimacy, or face prision, even when the chances are low, is quite a risk.

Even this comment in HN could put me into problems if the guard considers it harmful.

If a funny pic of a politician can put you into prision, the probably some messages you write in a WhatsApp group with friends, discussing world news, could mean serious problems.

They have data and probable causes, but nobody will tell until forensic studies take place, which seems a good decission. No need to spread speculations.

A cold start from zero generation took 6 to 10 h. No casualties, hospitals and crtitical infrastructure kept working all day.

Whatever the cause, this has been a great test of the emergency protocols.

I would buy a "tool" that solves a problem significantly better than its competitors, but I usually ditch options that are marginally better o cheaper if I feel a personal moral conflict.

Just to honour the Godwin law, take the Eduard Pernkopf anatomy manual as an example, a fascinating example of this discussion.

There is always a tipping point where practicality beats purity, and I think it's ok trying to stretch it, respecting other's choices in the way of course. No need to judge.

Couldn't the data be anonymized in a way that the police can track and relate some hashed ids with crimes, and then, via judge approval, ask the telecom companies to deanonymize them?

People speaking with LLMs is going to be fun.

At least until someone dies.
