Do you follow a certain process in retrospective, or do you more just sit and have an open-hearted conversation with the members of the team?

Interesting.. yeah a todo in its simplest form is not a bad idea :)

When you say "explicit model of a sprint" do you think about the whole start-date, end-date kind of thing per Kanban board? Or is it the kanban board itself that sort of leads to this formal process?

Good question. Kanban isn't something I've particularly experienced, but I'd be willing to believe that a simple Kanban board might be a useful level of coordination for some people. Although my inclination is to say that if you need a mechanism to track which stuff is being worked on, you might have either too many people, or excessively fine-grained tasks.

Do PMs keep documentation around the features (high level, what's the purpose/function etc) in a separate tool than Trello? Or is that not a thing they do at all?

For Github Projects you mean each repository has many projects, but you wanted it to be each project could have many repositories, right? :) That does make it a lot harder, especially as what you work on grow bigger and span multiple repositories..

Ugh. I meant to mention Pivotal as well in my original post - but I guess it slipped my mind :( That's what I used back in the day as well - and it seemed good, I can only imagine it has gotten better since

How do you go about finding new work?

Launched https://www.formbackend.com as a way to put a contact/whatever form on your static website about a month ago. I know this idea isn't unique by any means, but wanted to build something simple using Elixir. Now I'm just working on better guides/documentation/use-cases and growing the user base. Already have around 20 ppl using it, which is very satisfying :) Listening to their input/advice and building it as we go!

Nice work. What host are you using? I'm re-writing http://www.csvformatting.com from Elm front-end only to a Phoenix app and wasn't sure where to host (probably will do something like Digital Ocean)

OP here, I ended up creating this because I wanted to try and create something fully using Elixir/Phoenix - and actually deploy and run it somewhere :) I come from a Ruby background, and saw it as a good opportunity to dive in to Elixir.

I really wanted to get in to journaling. Because of that I created https://mydailylife.co - which sends me an email everyday to remind me about writing my entry. So far I've really really enjoyed it!

Hey everyone! :) I just decided to make MyDailyLife public. I wanted to get in to daily journaling myself and as part of that I decided to create a simple online journaling tool. I'd say I'm 95% there, but it's important to get something out and launch early - so there's still some things I want to add to it. But I've been using it for the past month and I really like the process of "journaling" every day.

It works by sending you a reminder email every day at 8pm. You can then reply to the email to write your daily entry - or you can go to the web interface and write it there.

Some additional things I'll be adding in the next week: - Encryption. I've been playing around with this for a little bit, but it's not quite ready to release yet. I understand the privacy concerns people might have - and I want to allow for an option to encrypt your data before it hits our system. - Images. The ability to add photos to a post, either by mailing them in - or attaching them on the website. - Encouragement. Something that'll keep you motivated, and let you know how far you are from hitting certain streaks. Your first week/month etc.

Long term I plan on charging money for it - mainly to ensure that I can keep the site running, I don't want to lose your data.. or announce that I shut down with a week notice. It's your data, it's important!

Thank you so much for trying it out - I can't wait to hear what every one of you think! :)

Why did you completely delete wiplo.com, including medium presence and the twitter account between the previous version and this new one? I was surprised to see wiplo up and running again..

The structure and strategy was not quite right so we shut down, not intending to come back, so we (mistakenly) cleared everything. Then right after a lot of people including some investors reached out to us asking for us to restructure it a little and bring it back. Lesson learned :(

I had a feeling it was something like that :) Thanks for responding.
