The "Red judge myth"is, well, a myth. And Fillon's case was very clear and he had all the reason to be prosecuted.

No it's not. A majority of judges belong the the "Syndicat de la Magistrature", a communist-leaning organization (https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syndicat_de_la_magistrature) which even participates (despite the supposed "independance" it should abide by) to the Communist Party's annual conference ("Fete de l'Huma"). COMMUNIST, not "socialist". Furthermore, many organizations and known figures of the french magistrature have regularly explained how they view there job as having a political mission, particularly, "avoiding prison", etc, etc... rather than enforcing the law.

Your own link said it 33%, so not the majority. A union has no obligation of "independence". Being member of a union does not mean you agree with everything, just that you think it's the best to defend your interests. The "Fête de l’Huma" is not the Communist Party's annual conference but it is indeed left leaning. There is no need to write communist in all caps, it's not an insult. For your last point you'll need to provide sources.

Yeah, it's not communist, it's just "left-leaning", organized by L'Humanite, a communist newspaper (who calls itself so), known for amongst other things, for grieving the "great comrade Stalin"'s death on its front page dated 9th March 1953. :o)

And sure, belonging to a communist-leaning syndicate which publicly takes political stances (one being to say "dont vote for Sarkozy") has strictly no influence on how you deliver sentencing, nor does the famous incident "mur des cons" in 2013.

Man, the communist party (and the communist ideology) in France is pretty much dead today. They’re not even that much to the left today. They have no power and their boss has no social credibility outside of its party (see “Fabien Roussel n’est pas un camarade” songs)

Your claim that the judges are red is a popular right wing fantasy

I didn't talk about the communist party. But yes you are right, the PC is dead in France.

A few, for example Meir Ettinger, an hilltop youth leader has served some time in jail.

The idea for Israel was to have its national criminal jurisdictions prosecute just enough to not be seen as failing by the ICC and meet its 'complementarity' criterion [0]. Even spying on ICC staff to see who it was investigating.

At least that's how it used to be, now they just threaten the ICC.

It might be better to accept what is right now and buy a rig but then play with the nicotine level to reduce it step by step. Once you reach 0 you won.

But this wasn't about saying "there are only two sexes".

How can a comment about gender be a true biological fact? Aren't you mixing up sex and gender?

Even sex isn't fully binary; there are people with other sex chromosome combinations than XX or XY. And people who, due apparently entirely to biology (endocrinology stuff, how their bodies react to hormones etc), develop different sexual characteristics than their XX or XY chromosome combo typically leads to.

So even "there are only two biological sexes" -- while less untrue than "there are only two genders" -- is apparently not an entirely 100% "true biological fact".

well,

sex: male / female. you're born with. other : ? gender : male / female. what you feel being. other : a teapot ? you're insane.

the type or person of what's people are attracted with : i don't give a f it does not matter.

Well, as said in the sibling comment, even for clinical sex it's not that simple. Intersex is a fact of life.

As for gender it's a social construct so using a binary qualification makes no sense. One could say it's a spectrum but it doesn't even have to be this restrictive. Why force people to take the whole package of constructs and ethos from either one? What's wrong with having a beard and makeup? Is this insanity to you?

Of course this is not about identifying as object. Please don't use mediocre rhetoric like that.

Very good VPN but probably not the best for this usage: https://mullvad.net/en/blog/removing-the-support-for-forward...

a) You only get this message if you stop at the title. The rest of the article is not a criticism of degrowth but a criticism of it's academic literature.

b) At 12.6 tCO2eq/cap/year [0] I would not call this a success.

I like this proposal to add a "purpose" field to the cookie header. This could allow consent settings at the browser level, preventing all these pop-ups.

The problem isn't lack of a solution, we've had DNT for years. It's that the people who want to track you generally don't want to make it easy for you to opt out.

Yes, this will need legislative backing. We had the GDPR since the DNT.

I also just discovered the GPC which seems more interesting: https://globalprivacycontrol.org

Actually, GPC support is required in CPRA. CPRA, if you're not familiar, is the California privacy law.

And they will mark all the advertising cookies as "Legitimate interest", as they've already started to do that with the confirmation prompts.

The "legitimate interest" of selling you shit you don't want and selling your interests to third parties.

Would this get past the GDPR? I get the defeatism, there are powerful actors, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't try to improve the situation.

No, it's not legal. It's clearly not legal, it doesn't need a case. It's well established in the law as it was written.

It's just that the enforcement agencies are large, lazy and won't enforce anything. They don't even enforce when you can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt when and how the corporations have leaked your private information, let alone when their use of cookies is illegal.

GDPR enforcement actions are happening quite often in the EU.

https://www.enforcementtracker.com

It depends on the country. When I filter for specific countries, it really can be very rare.

Look at the difference between Germany and say Austria, for example. Or if you must compare two large countries Germany and France. There is quite a large gap between different countries.

Isn't this one of those things that is going to require a landmark case?

Nothing prevents a company from doing this, but it's definitely not GDPR compliant.

I am sure it will be as successful as do-not-track.

Wait, can an employer fire you even if you didn't make a fault? What country are you in?

Probably the US - it's scary over there: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At-will_employment

Our work culture is a strong part of why the US is so economically dominant.

Reap what you sow “I work to live not live to work” crowd. Your destiny is to be further economically colonized by the “I live to work” crowd.

This strike me as a very naive view of the world.

Look at how dominant the USA is compared to the europeans who love to make fun of us for working so hard. The USA is about to be flung into another golden century due to its dominance in GenAI. Frogs/the EU will be too busy eating caiver served by rude waiters to realize that huggingface and mistral are all they have to compete with us. Eventually they won't be able to afford the caiver anymore. You laugh, but look at how the UK economy is doing. That's the future of Europe.

Yeah it sucks to have a bad wlb work culture, but the alternative is losing what makes America so awesome.

I’m not disagreeing with you but are you directly benefiting from the US’s “dominance”?

The way I see it, unless you’re in the top say 5-10% of tech workers you probably aren’t seeing great benefit from the US’s leads in anything. And anyone outside of that is seeing their general QoL being slowly degraded by ever higher prices and an ever weaker government (due to monopolization).

And that's the confirmation. But given how emotional your response is I guess there is something personal to it so I won't push it.

I'm just curious as to why did you make a distinction between France and Europe.

> Yeah it sucks to have a bad wlb work culture, but the alternative is losing what makes America so awesome.

You're not reaping the benefits of that “hard work”, executives do.

Or maybe it was all the military interventions that punished anybody who ever dared to question that domination

There is a fork that's still under development [1], or you can use mpc-be [2].
