Not surprising this is why I have switched to Macbook Pro long back.

Windows is to crappy and bloated to deal with and linux desktop is great to some extent but nothing beats the hardware and software synergy provided by Macbook Pro.

Well its a diwali in Jupiter I guess

Imagine how many decisions were made similar to this at the cost of smooth user experience. This is why windows or any MS products will never be my favourite because user experience takes back seat mostly.

Sometimes I wonder how worse our world could be if Google and Facebook doesn't exist and Microsoft kind of corporates dominating search and social networks.

Products will be shitty AF and no regards even for paid user and expert at annoying them.

That's called the nineties and no, it was great.

So true. Without amazon retail experience is shit in India

Why would you post an article behind pay wall ?

If there's a workaround, it's ok. Users usually post workarounds in the thread.

This is in the FAQ at https://news.ycombinator.com/newsfaq.html and there's more explanation here:

One major reason for people to rely on FB is every post carry some weight like author/friend who shared it/likes/comments

RSS is a great alternative but definitely won't make a dent in FB

Intellij have amazing extensions for database.

> Penetration of Signal in real world is way too different from what it "feels" here on HN

But we should also remember most of the popular apps right now started with small bubble.

People like HN readers and techies is what going to influence non-tech people in long run.
