This was my first DM, i even put my mother on it on her home laptop. I use i3 nowadays, glazewm on windows, and aerospace on macos. anything that’s not a tiling window manager nowadays just feels wrong to me. Even if sometimes my screen doesn’t look pretty because i randomly threw on virtual screen 7 all the windows i don’t currently use.

it’s funny how many stable, healthy relationships of some of my friends started off from people they met on fetlife

<3 Thank you for sharing and making our day!

When I think about it, it makes a lot of sense

you make peace with your inner animal early on, so it doesn’t come back to bite you eh

tbh i think they just don’t procrastinate and do stuff

our build system is written in python, and i’d like it not to suck but still stay in python, so these numbers very much matter.

care to share the site? :)

yeah, i learned this the hard way. I tried producthunt, indie hackers, linkedIn, twitter even instagram thinking distribution was the issue.

Turns out it was mostly audience and presentation. Math/educational content just doesn't travel well on those channels unless it’s tailored very carefully. Being right wasnt enough if the delivery didn’t match how people consume it.

I’m guessing that’s a no.

to this day i don’t know what people mean by “features”.

Lambdas are nice to have, just don’t nest them more than once.

I kinda wish things like std::variant had shorter syntax.

if anything i’m not a fan of c++ introducing language features as long verbose functions than to confidently make it an operator or a keyword.

I am still using LLMs just to ask questions and never giving them the keyboard so I haven’t quite experienced this yet. It has not made me a 10x dev but at times it has made me a 2x dev, and that’s quite enough for me.

It’s like jacking off, once in a while won’t hurt and may even be beneficial. But if you do it constantly you’re gonna have a problem.

Ugh. don’t remind me. my fiancée and I live in different cities in Germany. the train ride is 5 hours. but it has been 15h in the past just because DB is DB. and the only thing we got for it was like a 10 eur discount voucher. 10 hours of my life partner’s time is worth a lot more than 10 eur. i have cussed them and their mothers countless times, DB is a garbage transportation company owned and ran by garbage people.

Sounds like Amtrak in the US, except here you get no compensation at all. And I've always been told how great the European railroads are.

In some places, European trains are decent. I don't have much experience with US trains other than them having very high steps to get onto.

in switzerland it’s amazing. france is way more efficient too because the low and high speed rails are largely physically separated. in germany everything shares everything and they rely on proper scheduling to make it work. which is never proper

Europe is a big place

isn’t that the point of languages that have first class actor models something something?

Even in those languages you can easily have the equivalent of race conditions simply due to the order messages are received.

a rust to js transpiler would be pretty sweet. idk if someone has turned rust into a frontend language yet like typescript.
