My guess is that a significant portion are dual citizens / have family in Iran.

BugMeNot to the rescue.


In 2019, with IP geolocation combined with mobile or email verification, BugMeNot no longer seems that useful.

At the moment its instagram.com logins have 35% or lower success rate.


BugMeNot only works for low-profile websites. Anything huge like instagram has protections against sharing accounts. (i.e: they'll block your account until you verify your phone number, friends, etc).


I haven't found a large site that that has worked on in years.
