Fellow UMich grad here. Shapiro library (formal name for UgLi) was always a great place to study because you had plenty of noise isolation from other people, especially the upper floors.
On North Campus, CS majors had two major study spaces: the Beyster computer lab/atrium, and the Duderstadt Library. Course staff would provide office hours in Beyster, and if you wanted to study in a more collaborative environment, that was the place to be. Duderstadt had a mix of collaborative spaces (in closed rooms) and quiet workspaces (the benches near the stacks). I studied in both locations, depending on my needs at the time. Was a pretty effective setup.
There are also a good amount of men who make lots of money. However, they are not attractive. They might by chubby, scrawny, bad hygiene, and don't dress well.
The problem is that women who make a good amount of money cannot always land a man who is financially successful.
A 30 year old man with a good career and assets will try to date the 23 year old who looks like a fitness model. That's not to say women who make money cannot look like fitness models. There are just few of them because time is a limited resource.
The other part is that men are not on a certain timeline. A man can could spend his 30s and 20s casually dating, then get married at 45 and have kids. Whereas women try to get married before 30, so then she can have a kid or two before it's too late. Sure 35 year old women can get pregnant, but it's common to have miscarriages at that age.
My guess is that during the summer and spring, you see other people outdoor enjoying activities. If you are a lonely person, this can be discouraging that everyone around is having fun but you're not.
In the fall and winter, you have an excuse to stay in. Everybody else is doing the same, so you're not missing out on much.
Plus part of it is academic. For k-12 and university, you see your 'friends' and 'acquaintances' very often. During the non-academic season, you don't see people as much which can be isolating.
Plus summer and spring, has the expectation of "you're supposed to be happy". So if you're not, then this can be devastating. Winter everybody has this "we're all in this gloomy mood together".
If I am a child of a Harvard administrative staff member, then I have an advantage when getting into Harvard. So that would not be a merit advantage. That's just called luck.
Here's the big difference between the upper-class kids and everyone below when it comes to admission's fairness.
Everyone else says "I worked hard as an individual, therefore i deserve to get into a good college."
Upper-class kids says "MY FAMILY worked hard, therefore i (as an individual) deserve to get into a good college."
The emphasis is WHO worked hard. Upper-class kids tend to ride on the coat-tails of their parents and grand-parents.
My girlfriend has an Apple Watch. We wrestle and practice jiu-jitsu in bed sometimes. When I was squeezing her wrists, the watch buzzed and asked if she wanted to call 911.
This is partially why some parents put their kids in private schools. Because their classmates will become other important figures in life. Plus soccer moms can mingle with the other wealthy parents as a networking tactic.
Sounds like a PR stunt by this this organization holding the career fair. They knew what they were getting themselves into when they accepted Palantir's money to hold a table their. This ICE reputation by Palantir isn't some new revelation.
if I took money from Trump, am I going pretend to act shocked when he did something controversial? No, I knew the whole time
People get the Costco membership but barely go to it because Walmart or Kroger is closer.
Plus some companies buy loads of Costco membership for employee benefit.
