FB is a communication platform and a publisher, depending on what is more convenient for them. They police speech but then in more important things is clear that they are doing a very bad job. You can argue that any company at the end try to maximize profits but FB has a long history to be misleading an manipulating to avoid do what they should do while keep milking their cash cow.
but terrorist attacks on flights seems more controllable than a virus and also more rare. Granted that it's true that there is a lot of sensationalism there are also events that will disrupt an industry for a while
It's a great project, I would only make a small correction... What the author* calls profit still includes all the time and effort you put in: building an audience, creating the course, building a reputation, marketing, etc.. Just to make people understand that it's a lot of hard work and taking that not consideration the ROI is much lower.
That's a good point to call out. Building an audience and establishing credibility takes time and effort. You pay an upfront cost, but having an audience will pay dividends in the future.
you don't take into consideration how contagious it is, it's not only important the percentage but the absolute number and also the time (due to resources constrains)
of course everyone has to die at a certain point, when does make a difference and COVID is making a HUGE difference as you can see by the spike in mortality rate
yes and assets started to bubble because of the hidden inflation of QE. What do you think it'd going to happen by just keep printing money, 10% to normal people and 90% to businesses ?
That's not true, Italy's debit was slowly declining till 2009, the big financial crisis that originated in the US and it was mostly because of US bank and funds. after that there was a sharp increase but it then stabilised at least.
In my understanding there is only a blunt no to the coronabond, not a request fro more condition.
It was unfortunate that it started with Italy, and been the first with an outbreak like that in Europe push them to take brave decisions.
To me it feels more like that these countries don't want to help because they feel it's Italy's fault and they need to pay.
But what about all the money that was given for free to Germany to rebuild after the second war war, despite a long history of aggression?
It's not a surprise that people wants to break the EU, it's sad to see this project heading this way.
life is much more than just an economic contribution. Society is made by people that have relationships far beyond economics (family, friends..). Money plays a big part of course but people were also happy when there was less money around. Loosing one (or more) dear one is much more devastating that an economic crisis.
the problem with relying too much on death is that even trying to be accurate if the system is overwhelmed they will not spend time, resources and precious test on a death body. This is not speculation, it's happening in China, Spain, Italy (sorry can't remember the source)
I think it would be useful to compare the mortality rate of a region with the past years. Other than uncounted coronavirus death there are other emergencies that cannot be throated properly in some heavily affected areas and that increase the overall mortality rate.
