Not sure myself, it seems like some of the founders were kicked out in 2025 for "misuse of funds" according to the auditor of TDF / or the Foundation authorities?

https://community.documentfoundation.org/t/well-known-high-c...

Also found this in the annual report, sounds quite serious:

> In 2023, following a request by the Foundation Authorities in Berlin, given the size our foundation has grown into over the last decade, TDF was audited, and a report was sent back to Berlin. The Board of Directors is working with the authorities to implement the improvements suggested by the audit

Would be helpful if the blog post was more clear about this

I find searching chatgpt.com and asking for sources, then visiting them, works much better than Google to find niche topics

Every year I ask the latest version of Chat GPT a basic facts question about rugby results. It almost always gets it wrong - even when it does web search and cites sources. Wrong scores, hallucinated matches, wrong locations - just gob smacking amounts of wrongness.

The latest "Thinking" version gets it reliably right but spent about 3 minutes coming up with the answer that 10 seconds of googling answers.

So I don't believe we are currently in a situation where LLMs are an effective replacement for search engines.

yep google ai results are old too.

Interestingly, the latest board minutes has a redacted section about a legal situation?

> [REDACTED: 43 lines of discussion about the current legal situation]

edit: And lots of back and forth regarding reviving LibreOffice Online here: https://community.documentfoundation.org/t/vote-revoke-votes...

Seems messy

I am going to finish such a project soon myself, including some old Video8 tapes! Sounds like you're on macOS, Any reason you didn't use iMovie for the capture itself?

The Video8 tapes have already been digitalized via a Digital8 camcorder, but apparently you can get even better quality out of old analog tapes with the vhsdecode project. Let's see if I ever get around to that, but at least it bypass Firewire entirely: https://github.com/oyvindln/vhs-decode https://www.reddit.com/r/vhsdecode/

Mostly wanted to fully automate the pipeline (auto-rewind tape, scan tape head position, etc) and iMovie is just using the same AVFoundation APIs under the scene that you can call manually. Took some notes here if helpful: https://pierce.dev/notes/automating-our-home-video-imports

Wish vhsdecode was easier to use in practice! Such a cool idea but a bit too inconvenient to hack your own hardware like this...

Maybe it was opened up so it could be used in recruiting?

McKinsey challenges graduates to use AI chatbot in recruitment overhaul: https://www.ft.com/content/de7855f0-f586-4708-a8ed-f0458eb25...

Using a 2 year old paradigm.

And require a chatbot to be used that can be easily gamed by asking a model of how best to navigate it lol.

Implementing the past of AI practices is requesting something that will be easily outdone.

If it's true that there's 58k users in the dump, that would mean former employees are in the dump

I assume that means McKinsey would need to disclose it, or at least alert the former employees of the breach?

What drives that behavior is what I like to call human slop :)

They also made their map generator closed source

Good thing I prefer en-dashes :)

Was just going to say this!

The macOS version of Office has finally gotten native support for alt+shortcuts, would have been nice if LibreOffice had exploited that neglect by Microsoft :(
