I flew on an Alaska branded Embraer craft a few days ago. Do you mean only those operated directly by Alaska? I think mine was operated by Sky West.

Yeah, Alaska operating as Sky West. It's kind of like outsourcing.

Git Tower for Mac works great for this

I guess it depends on where you live. In Seattle I usually get deliveries the same day when I order in the morning, and there are enough grocery stores in walking distance that I wouldn't pay for delivery.

I live an hour from any urban area in Southern Ontario and get next day deliveries all the time. I'd say 90% are next day.

Also in Canada the "most sites have free shipping" thing is not true at all for us sadly. Nor do they have as consistently fast shipping as Amazon. Amazon (via Canpar) does two delivery cycles each day in my town either in the early day or early evening depending on when you order. Canada Post has gotten way better thanks to Amazon competiton but next day is still a shot in the dark even when ordering regionally, and fedex/UPS conspire to pretend they attempted delivery even when I work from home.

So yeah as a Canadian I can't see myself ending prime any time soon. And I thank Amazon's competition for making the other shipping options better even if they are only 70% of the way there. Maybe one day competiton will plateau and end their ecommerce shipping dominance.

That was my experience in the Boston area 3-4 years ago. Last year it had gotten to 3-4 days between ordering and the item arriving normally with probably every third or fourth delivery delayed by at least two days and occasionally a week.

Cancelling my 10 year old prime subscription was the easiest decision I've made in the last year.

This looks like a very good project. I am setting up for a new project and I was planning on using ShadcnUI for it, but after reading this blog post I'm interested in trying Daisy. I like the way it's structured for customizability. Does anyone have any thoughts on using this vs Shadcn?

I don't personally have any thoughts on ShadcnUI (I've really never heard of it), but I did use DaisyUI when it first launched (v1 or so?). I personally like the way Daisy is thought out, and structured. I also recently started a new project, and I'm integrating DaisyUI again after reading this blog post as well!

Using Daisy UI, great project. Some minor annoyances because it does not have JS. E.g. some popups don’t close when you click on the button they are tied to because they are open based on button focus…

It's the same in the US legally speaking, but from what I've seen, intersections in Germany are designed so that the car is positions pretty much prependicularly to the crosswalk as it crosses, giving the driver good visibility to people crossing. And the right corners reduce the speed of people as they turn.

I grew up in the suburbs and in college I met a lot of people who grew up in the city, and I became quite jealous of their childhood. They had an independence that I never had. Many of them still don't know how to drive since we all live in Seattle near transit.

Where do you live? It's possible to get gigabit service from a handful of different non Comcast ISPs in most of the city.

Comments said they don't want to pay more for gigabit (that they don't need) just to get reasonable upload speed.

I’m also in Seattle and get symmetric gigabit for $49.99 all in, I’d be surprised if they’re getting 480 from comcast for cheaper. I think my provider is only available for apartment buildings but there’s likely competition from other providers that at least offer symmetric speeds.

Unfortunately Comcast is the only option in my 14-unit condo, which AIUI is not unusual for this size of building in this area.

The worst part is that the much larger condo right next to us has Google Fiber :(

Dang, assuming you can get the HOA to sign on you might be able to get in with GFiber Webpass or Atlas (I personally have Atlas) since they’re both microwave providers. There’s no fiber to lay so all they need to do is put a dish on top and integrate it into the distribution system.

That's the worst, and usual require board approval to change, which you can't get.

Apple Photos is almost impossible to get all your photos out of.

Absolute nightmare. Took me two weeks to help someone get their data out of icloud.

I can't imagine fighting to get my photos out of Google only to put them in something even worse.

Madness

FWIW Apple Photos is even worse. There is no mass export mechanism for Apple Photos, and it won't let you sync an album on MacOS to an external drive. I had to make a MacOS VM on my server and attach a large internal drive. Then, after syncing my 900 GB of media, I connected the drive to a Linux VM and extracted the media from the Photos library.

It's pretty widespread in Seattle. We have Google Fiber, CenturyLink, and Wave G providing gigabit fiber services in different parts of the city. Then there is Atlas Networks which provides symmetrical gigabit services to apartment buildings via point to point wireless. I have Atlas and it has been fantastic.

I don't believe Google has fiber in Seattle. There is "GFiber" which from their site is: "GFiber is the company that offers Google Fiber and Google Fiber Webpass, high-speed broadband internet services that use fiber optic and wireless millimeter wave technology to deliver fast internet right to your home or business."

But millimeter wave wireless is available from Google in Seattle
