Part of it would. There is a cost to maintaining your own currency that can drag down the economy.
Counterfeiting is an obvious one, getting software and markets to support is another one, but what parent above you is likely arguing against currency speculators/manipulators.
You need to defend it to keep it relatively stable so it stays as a store of value or your companies will just use dollars or euro anyway. If your currency is so small a firm in New York can force your currency to change by 50% in a night, regardless of the fundamentals of the businesses who use the króna, you have a problem. Using the Euro also means businesses do not have to pay conversion costs or deal with additional accounting issues for tracking the fluctuations in the currency.
I live in one of those all electric homes too, made in the 2000s. Doesn't change that a bust will dry up the work and homeowners won't fork over the money for something that has few benefits for their daily life and requires expensive changes to the house.
To add to this there are jurisdictions that will require you to still pay a small monthly fee to support the gas pipes if you cut off gas service.
It is really nice not having a gas bill and not requiring maintenance for gas appliances, but most people won't care if they lived with it for long enough.
The only case I see it working is in a disaster area or blighted areas where the builder decided to bulldoze and rebuild the houses. The southern California fires for example; the city gave priority to permits to houses that went all electric since the gas pipes were destroyed. Permitting and inspection is so much simpler with all electric.
That has been my experience (blank screen and jank). Literally had to pull out the Nvidia card and run on the iGPU for my work because of suspend and resume issues.
RHEL 9 and 10 now fully support io_uring by default. It is very recent, but this covers a lot of corporate Linux installs. Gemini 'said' Ubuntu and SuSE support it as well, but did not provide any links to prove it.
It's still seccomp'd off in most environments because io-uring is still a seccomp bypass that doesn't play well with kernel security systems (audit subsystem), even if it weren't also like the #1 or #2 exploit vector for privesc.
Their point is that that functionality is not available on older kernels (such as those in RHEL 9 and 10) and so most sandboxes will continue to block it outright for a while, though eventually one would expect Red Hat to backport it.
(We haven't even added support for the new cBPF io_uring stuff to low-level container runtimes like runc yet, though I did review the patchset on LKML earlier this year and planned to get working on it when I have time. But as it requires spec changes, expect it to take 6-12 months at best...)
It's a long story: OpenShift was a bad product all around until 2019 with v4, the 3rd rewrite, but that product was a home run. That in itself was an incredible turnaround, even before they moved away from Openstack and turned Openshift into also a VM platform.
Mostly the other problems are the typical problems of managing bare metal multi-tenant Kubernetes cluster. The customers that don't have as many of these problems are ironically running openshift on vSphere ;).
while the OCP operators and GUIs cover much of the usual day to day , you really need deep Kubernetes expertise at scale, and need to drop down to the upstream project code and docs. For example it is very hard to force configuration discipline on tenants (leading to many flowers blooming here like Kyverno); security in Kubernetes is complex and requires careful tradeoffs on policies; it is laborious and counterintuitive (requests vs limits - ie. you should always set requests and be very careful setting limits) to manage compute capacity and noisy neighbours, Submariner and OVN-Kubernetes network services are limited compared to HCX+NSX (eg. NAT topologies, distributed firewall management, tunnels, fabric connectivity ie. VRFs or EVPN support though this is coming soon... also Openshift's metalLB for ingress load balancing is its own thing with its own connectivity config), out of the box observabiity is not very good and requires 3rd party solutions or extensive customized configurations , and the Kubernetes scheduler itself is focused on efficient bin packing rather than workload stability.
Also replacing vSphere VMs with OSV, you lose DRS which is a big blow... you do keep vmotion live migration equivalence but you must use a NetApp Filer (or any NFS store) for your VMs, or Nutanix Files, or ODF/Ceph in RWX volume mode. ODF/Ceph is more laborious to manage than VSAN (it requires its own knowledge well), but importantly has native S3 object storage, which VSAN still is missing (though I hear it is imminent in VCF 9.1.2). VLAN assignment to VMs with NMstate and multi-NIC failover has gotten better here over the years with OCP though feels shakier (more complexity is exposed, LACP is required, etc) than the VMware distributed switch native load based NIC teaming or NSX.
Overall if you squint, OpenShift can replace much of vSphere on paper , and at least somewhat in practice - but you really, really need a sharp ops team that knows what they're doing and at least some 3rd party solutions for capacity and observability. I'm also not sure redhat education and consulting is scaled at the level required to build these skills in industry quickly enough, though IBM certainly has the qualifications to do so. That said Broadcom is also doing plenty to squeeze or shed its education and consulting to partners which is ... a mixed bag usually at first that doesn't end well, and leads to repatriation.

They rebounded in 2026 in the EU after a terrible 2025 only because of very high gas prices, and EU for the time being, blocks Chinese EV imports.
From what I hear Chinese EVs are dominating the South American and African EV market.
SPCX is widely unprofitable with xAI and the only profitable part of it, Starlink, has a very limited ability to scale for anyone familiar with the density limitations of the cellular transmitters. Their own AI offering is not even used by their own engineers over Anthropic's offerings.

Your argument might be plausible if it weren't for the fact that this issue is happening -- predictably -- in every major sprawling city in America. Strong Towns has literally built a tool to effectively convert cities' cash-accounting budgets into accrual-accounting budgets. You can see it happening over time... you just need to account for the future liabilities in the way you look at your budget instead of ignoring them until it's time to replace the infrastructure.
Indeed, the problem is the same in Texas which is about as opposite California as you can get. Sprawling suburbs over old farm fields. Installing infrastructure is vastly cheaper when you are doing so in an unoccupied empty field.
None of those cities are saving money or even _planning_ for the inevitable repaving, pipe re-lining, etc. Worse: many of them were built up in waves so much of the city's infrastructure will "come due" around the same time.
I never imagined we would see San Francisco (of all places) overhaul its permit process. I can now build a deck in my backyard, add a story to my house, or build an ADU without having to pay DBI to send certified letters to all my neighbors asking if they'd like to object, then being forced in front of the planning commission when they do so. That's a direct result of the pro-housing legislation at the state level, something Wiener has been heavily involved in.
I think CA has bigger issues to tackle than repealing Prop 65 (IIRC, that's the one about carcinogen warnings). The other, may be happening in some places, but having lived here 20+ years in the Bay, I haven't seen even one example of either.
I saw all of these things driving through Sacramento twice. I think you’re probably just being dishonest or maybe you are in an are in an area where undesirables are priced out and you don’t leave your house.
