I see almost all comments on this article are sympathetic to China. I have not dug deeper but I wonder if the accounts making these comments are all real, or could they be part of China’s propaganda apparatus?
Please don't make insinuations about astroturfing. It degrades discussion and is usually mistaken. If you're worried, email us and we'll look at the data.
I tried both Google Container Engine and Amazon EC2 Container Service recently for a docker deployment. Google was the clear winner: they have support for private registries (Amazon requires you to use a third party or set it all up yourself), Google gives you a preconfigured, Debian-based base image so you don't have to do any setup or maintenance (with keys already exchanged that allow login with the gcloud command, no work required), and Kubernetes itself (which Google Container Engine uses for orchestration) is really nice. Also Google cloud logging (currently free) just works out of the box with their container engine and streams your container's stdout to their logs. Kubernetes itself is open source so you always have the option to move on your own metal if your deployment grows to that size. Would highly recommend Google Container Engine.
Also check out Joyent, you can launch containers natively from your laptop on their cloud bare metal, no underlying instances for you to manage are required. Plus their 128m size container is only .003c/hr and is billed by the minute.
It's also worth noting that it's shared cpu prioritization so you will get at least your allocation, but can burst much higher for cpu bound loads in practice... though I find that joyent's storage pricing is pretty far out of line compared to gce, aws and azure and that their pricing all around is a bit higher. That said, their technology stack for docker is pretty damned cool.
The DJI Phantom & DJI Phantom 2 vision are both awesome. The Phantom 1 is probably better if you want to put your own board in the air, as it has more payload space. But out of the box the Phantom 2 is unbelievable with its iPhone FPV & telemetry integration
If you have lots of time on your hands, though, you could build your own with ardupilot: http://ardupilot.com
I have a question about using this. In the SAFE Primer it states:
"The table below sets forth a comparison between the Standard Preferred and the SAFE Preferred, as each would be described in the company’s certificate of incorporation:"
Reading the SAFE it mentions "SAFE Preferred Stock" and seems to partially define it. Does this mean you must have "SAFE Preferred stock" defined in your articles of incorporation to use a SAFE, or can the SAFE stand alone?
The SAFE Preferred Stock would be whatever you end up calling it in the charter - for example, Series AA (just something to differentiate it from the preferred stock being issued to the new money investors). So no, you would not actually call it "SAFE Preferred Stock" in your COI. Does that make sense?
On a blog post for Tinfoil Security, it would be better to phrase this as "We also check for these types of vulnerabilities." Tinfoil Security clearly found this specific vulnerability using their own product.
The law here clearly needs to evolve, and probably should have evolved by now. AirBnb wants to keep people safe, as it's in the best interest of their business. Some purposes of the law are also to keep people safe, but we need to revisit protectionist laws that restrict renting out parts of your home to others solely to protect hotels, and the fact that Airbnb has made it much safer to rent out your home (you can see people's reputations online, their social networks and who they know, Airbnb provides insurance, etc) means that some of the old laws aren't needed.
What is clear to me is that this sort of spot enforcement is a waste of taxpayer money and doesn't serve to help anyone. I hope we can work towards real legal reform as companies like Airbnb and Uber drive innovation in our cities.
hey Brad, I responded on TC but we built the scanner to rate limit our requests significantly if it starts to slow down your site. I'm going to investigate this and apologize for any trouble it caused if your site slowed down and we didn't rate limit
