I feel the opposite as a software engineer. The only appointments I have are stand-ups. I can work whenever and wherever I like. I never want to go back to the stress of University now.
It has been a common thing on Android and I don't really see Android users having a worse experience. The average user is conditioned to using the app/play store.
If you don't know what is sideloading. Without toggle the hidden browser setting, open a apk in browser will just say `the app can't be installed correctly`.
If you know, you just know you need to open the info of browser, and toggle the __Allow this app to sideload other apps__ option.
It's funny you mention this, because I like to use vscode over ssh. I believe the editor updates the screen before the change is ever made on the server, so it feels nice and responsive like you're coding on your home machine.
Not trying to take merit away from VSCode, but emacs and tramp mode also do that. And not just with remote machines over ssh, docker containers work as well. Also docker containers over an ssh connection (or whatever crazy combination you may need).
You get latency-free editing because the file is edited locally and sent to the server on save. Simple implementation but highly effective.
Sorry, I'll take wage slavery over the gig-economy. I'm lucky and don't have to choose between the two right now with my flexible schedule at my current job.
