This comment makes no sense.

I can't put out an album of my shitty music and market it as a new Michael Jackson album.

Putting "AI" in front of "Michael" doesn't change anything.

If the content of the music is filled with commentary and jokes about the use of AI to create facsimiles of celebrities and comedians and the exploitation of the technology for the purposes of mass commercialization by billionaires, you might be able to.

After all, you can open a store selling shitty coffee and market it as Dumb Starbucks.

I think the apartment writing is symptomatic of the extreme, highly educated, San Francisco bubble many live in.

The people I know in real estate are not reading Hemingway on the weekend and appreciate fine writing. They are blue collar guys with good business sense and good at fixing housing.

The writing style of the tenant matters to them zero.

"You can write a proper restaurant review for Benu or Birdsong along with writing a good inquiry into getting that apartment in Presidio Heights you always wanted"

It is always telling when they can't even come up with good example uses from the entire space of possible uses

"leave a well-written review for a restaurant, craft a friendly RSVP for a party, or make a formal inquiry about an apartment rental.”

That is what the world needs. More restaurant reviews.

I just watched American Movie for the first time a few weeks ago. It is just so endearing man.

Hell, I might watch it again today.

I have watched the Fog of War so many times.

It is just hard for me to rate the King of Kong or American Movie against the Fog of War though. Those are my top 3.

I will have to give the The Act of Killing a go.

Totally agree. Plaid always delivers.

Forest Swords is the artist that comes to my mind for newer stuff besides the old Warp artists although I wouldn't call that IDM at all. I am not even sure what I would call Forest Swords.

I might even put Forest Swords up there with all the old Warp artists but its like he came to play the chill out room at 8am and everyone had already left the party.

I am also in this age bracket and totally agree.

Sorry to tell you kids, age is not like race or sex.

There is a huge difference between what you are getting if you hire me now vs when I was 25. It is two completely different people.

At 25, I wouldn't have even asked how high. I would have just repeatedly jumped as high as I could.

Now, if I don't feel like jumping and you push me to jump I will just quit because I can.

Not to mention, if you learn new things as quickly at 55 as you did at 25 you are lucky because I surely do not.

If you are young and can't understand this perspective, don't worry. You will someday.

Similar here. Also, when I am learning the 20th framework for doing essentially the same thing in a slightly different way / in yet another language / better fitting some other framework, I am simply not as curious as I used to be.

This is the problem for sure.

I hate social media and I am someone who this site is directed at. What I like about HN is the interaction but no "followers". Of course, people want their thoughts to not be disliked but it is not a childish, high school popularity contest that if you get popular enough, you get paid for being popular.

A network without nodes and edges isn't a network.

Myspace also didn't brand itself as "super internet forum" or something like that. If you really do something different to interest people who hate social media, it will need to have no resemblance to social media.

As Gen X, I don't think many young people can help it at this point. I don't use social media because I hate the way it invades my thoughts and mediates my experiences into a judgement of post worthiness.

If you grew up filming the most trivial aspects of your life it should not be a surprise if you feel the need to film something as important as losing a job.

Personally, it wouldn't even occur to me to film such a thing let alone to post it online. I would have assumed it would be illegal to film without the other side having a clue you are filming.

If I grew up filming literally everything though the idea of it being illegal I am sure would sound ridiculous and not even enter my mind. I am sure the thought process didn't go beyond this being some potentially really good "content".

The strangest thing to me is I have been let go from a job before. It is surely not a moment I wish to relive.
