Filming is one really interesting application, the other is imaging of single proteins without the need for crystallisation. I wrote a whole PhD thesis about the idea how to reconstruct the three-dimensional electron density from a lot of extremely noisy single proteins shots. It will make a huge class of proteins experimentally accessible that we couldn't structurally look into before.
Indeed and it's a really impressive technology. However, there is the cooling involved and a lot of effort goes into sampling "the real deal" without changes of the structure due to the imaging process. In single molecule shots the idea is to form tiny droplets with the natural protein inside and sample them at room temperature. Naturally sample preparation here comes with its own challenges.

We currently develop solutions in this area and I believe that isolated OCR is not the solution to go. Things are moving rapidly towards end-to-end processing of documents with huge transformer models and I also believe that multi-modal GPT models will quickly win all usecases.

As an AI Engineer // Data Scientist, the problem can’t be hard enough for you. You’re familiar with the current state of the art in Deep Learning. As part of our AI experts team, you will develop solutions to solve real-world problems while interacting with our customers.
Your Tasks:
- You will develop custom AI solutions from prototypes to integratable software modules
- You use and develop state-of-the-art models to solve real-world problems
- You analyze large data sets and come up with creative solutions
- You develop, implement, test and document competently
You are involved in development from conception to deployment
Your Profile:
- You have a master’s degree in computer science or a similar field of study
- You have deep knowledge in at least one of these disciplines: Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Robotics or Deep Learning
- You actively pursue the current state-of-the-art in Deep Learning
- You have very good programming skills, live the best practices and have successfully brought software projects into production using Python & Pytorch (or TensorFlow/Keras)
- You have strong mathematical skills, especially in machine learning approaches and statistical methods
- You have a strong sense of responsibility, identify risks early and fix bugs even after delivery
- You think in a solution-oriented way and approach problems in an analytical and structured way
- You enjoy working in a team and can communicate effectively with people from different professions (technical and non-technical)
