I wrote a site creator for non-profits that allows them to create customized fundraising sites.

That doesn't look like a side project but great work nonetheless!

Do you use any open source cms?

This is bad ass. Good work!

Why wouldn't you just use imap in an email client? I don't see any benefit to using a cloud email service when you can just host email easily on a cloud server..

I agree, unfortunately, GMail has a non-standard IMAP implementation. As a result, it doesn't work well with Mail.app (while Fastmail's pristine IMAP does) and plugins such as MailTags.

This is really cool, I've never been to London so I have no reference for how busy the places he photographs typically are. I would love to see a similar project for NYC.

Very busy is probably the only way to describe them. I work not far from where some of these photos were taken where its frustratingly busy at times. You would never think this was possible.

This is a perfect example of HN acting productively. Identifies a serious problem that effects the audience and pushes the solution to the top.

I agree it shouldn't change conversions, but I would also like to see some data supporting that. I run a lot of ecommerce sites and couldn't imagine the number of transactions not dropping if I just removed my SSL from every site.

We're not discussing whether or not you should have SSL at all. We're discussing whether it's worth getting Extended Validation, displayed as a green bar in browsers. E.g. currently at https://twitter.com you get a lock icon and a green bar that says "Twitter, Inc. (US)" — that's EV. At https://www.facebook.com you only get the lock icon — no EV.

Let me start by saying I like the sentiment here. The hardest thing about living in NYC is knowing too many people. They distract you and give a false sense of comfort towards your situation. I get that.

But, I have a problem with this, is moving an hour outside of a city really relocating? I'd argue if you don't want to be comfortable move to a city where you have no connections. Focus on somewhere not particularly welcoming to tech entrepreneurs and really get out of the comfort zone. Otherwise, I don't think you really moved your startup anywhere.

LOL, yeah, move to Fresno or Kern County.

I am the founder of nKoso.org a sponsorship program for children in rural Ghana. We focus on at risk rural children and place them in one of our partner private schools. We're new, but have funded nearly 100 children's education since our launch in April.
