I agree with the premise, but it depends on your workplace. I struggle with colleagues who don't even both checking if the spot is available.

That’s one of the problems I have with some of the “productivity culture” blogs (and podcasts). They’re great for independents, very small businesses and executives who have that level of control. If I told my boss that I was only available during certain “office hours” to accept meetings, I’d quickly be out of a job.

No, the best that I can do that fits in the work culture is to block out a few “GTD” (actually I call them “GSD/Get Shit Done”)hours at strategic times during the week.

I want to point out that I do attempt Inbox Zero because it’s a method for dealing with a problem that’s within my control but also within “normal” working parameters.

I had the same issue in my last job at a large enterprise. What I found out was that many people actually didn't know how to use that feature.

I guess you mean "bother".

If so, I do not bother to decline such a meeting, I just do not show up.

Didn't take long but LGR has just released a video of him playing it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZ6Cqn5rTfs

Is that the former Fog Creek/FogBugz company?

Is the cover plate concealing a backup key lock? Call in the lock picking lawyer. Seems like many safes/locks don't stand up much to experienced attacks.

I am glad I wasn't the only person thinking about LPL for this. I wonder how much he would charge for a internet consult and recommendations on tools. Might end up being way less than the try-every-combination-or-we-drill-it locksmiths that are an hour awway

Since this is now somewhat famous, LPL will get a lot of views for opening this. As long as he can make a video about it, he should be able to do it free and turn a tidy profit.

Opens the lock after wiggling for 3 seconds… That's all I have for you today!

I switched to DuckDuckGo a while ago, took a little while to get used but as it's my default search engine I've got used to it. The funny thing for me is now google's search results look strange to me as I've not kept up with all their "tweaks/changes".

I think best thing is switch default search to a new engine to get used to it, takes a little adjusting but worthwhile.

I switched to DDG what seems like years ago (at least two, maybe more). I cannot fathom how horrible the UI&UX of Google search results are now. Stuff and things everywhere, ads hidden here and there, images, lists inside search results.

I just want a plain list of websites, thank you. If I want images or videos or news, I'll click that handy tab you provided for me...

It's the same for me. I tried DDG maybe a year ago..and couldn't stand it, I found it too lousy. But now I'm trying again and this time it's slowly sticking in. Idk if it for better or my tolerance against Google decreased.

It did much the same. I let my Google cookies expire on Firefox when they broke Gmail on everything but Chrome. Google search results became even crappier and I got fed up enough to permanently switch to DDG.

It's nice in theory but can also be helped to convict you if you happen to be near the wrong place at the wrong time. Interesting related video by Law Professor and Police Officer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-7o9xYp7eE

Had to shorten the title to fit but original is "Universal Game Translator – Using Google’s Cloud Vision API to live-translate Japanese games played on original consoles (try it yourself!)"

Very interesting project

It's funny that the article states it doesn't happen in the UK, but according to the highway code you are are supposed to. Many people seem disagree with that and like to queue but should read their highway code https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/driving-advice/zip-mergin...

That's what I was confused about. The article says we don't do it in the UK but then describes what we call "merge in turn"

Yes, but I can believe people not seeing it being applied. A lot of people don't like it for whatever reason. Only ignoring it seems to create (or worsen) the problem in the first place

At least on motorways, this is because more often than not you will be going too fast to do this safely by the time you run out of lane. Most drivers will be conditioned by that experience to expect it unless they can see evidence to the contrary. This is also why the signs indicating lane closures will usually be half a mile or more before the actual closure. When the traffic is slow moving to start with people do tend to merge in turn.

Thanks for the link - that was exceptionally fun to watch!

Yes, sadly. Bought our bed and mattress from there 5 years ago and think we will have it more many years more.
