I think he's trying to build a family dynasty à la (Mobile Suit) Gundam's (Principality of) Zeon family.

I have a really hard time imaging Zeon Zum Deikun tweeting about doing drugs with Grimes, or whether or not Tor Casval should get elf-ear surgery.

Personally I think we're headed more towards a House Harkonnen style monarchic-technocracy with that particular 'leadership'.

Yeah, I would agree that Dune is closer to our reality now politically, since Greenpeace, and groups like it, aren’t building a militia or anything close to the Zeon regime just yet, but I think Musk probably wants mecha eventually. Mobile suits are made for dueling, after all.

I think you meant to link to my HN submission for the NYT article?[0] Instead you just linked to TFA that this thread is in again?

I can say that the link posted up thread works for me. If you need to access archive.today|.is|.ph and cannot, use their .onion domain over TOR (Browser); the link is on Wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archive.today

> archiveiya74codqgiixo33q62qlrqtkgmcitqx5u2oeqnmn5bpcbiyd.onion

So if you need, here’s a TOR version:

Or try:

You can also use this unlocked link to access the article on the NY Times’ site:

Ah that’s nice. Affordable FPGAs are always welcome.
