FWIW uBlock Origin Lite (the MV3 version of uBlock Origin) seems pretty much just as good, at least to me.

https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ublock-origin-lite/...

I don't use a ton of custom filters or rulesets though, so YMMV.

For what it's worth, rudimentary (but persistent) css-based filters with a nifty element picker was implemented two weeks ago:

https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/commit/0b0294af4f

It's great, and it still even works permissionless!

> No custom filters, so no element picker which allows you to point and zap

> No per-site switches

These aren't accurate. My version of uBOL in Chrome (2025.718.1921) has these features.

You're either not using uBlock Origin Lite or do not know what the "per-site switches" are: https://github.com/gorhill/ublock/wiki/Per-site-switches

Ah, so uBOL does have the ability to adjust the blocking level on a per-site basis, which is what I assumed "per-site switches" meant. I see now that the original uBO has/had a more granular level of configuration available. (Which I suspect most folks never used, but still... my bad there.)

The biggest are that not all filtering capabilities are supported in MV3 and that the filter lists are only updated when the extension itself is updated. More details in the uBOL FAQ:

The comment with the TestFlight link:

I used this as the URL originally, but maybe anchor links are removed?

I use Supercharge for this. Creates a new text file with ⌥+N. Lots of other handy tweaks as well.

IIRC Finder has an option to delete files from the Trash 30 days after they're put there. I just enable that option and forget about the Trash completely.

You clearly aren't regularly deleting tens of gigabytes of files at a time... ;)

You can generally permanently delete with one action - but be sure you want to!

GUI: select item(s) and Option-Command-Delete

Command-line: rm -rf folder-or-file-path (or srm to securely remove)

I work at Automattic, but not on Jetpack Search. I can see internally that you've already written to our support staff, and they in turn have our JPS engineers looking into this. We should have an answer for you soon.

The whole thing is on YouTube, for free but with ads:

(At least, for me here in the U.S.)

A new one is on the way.

Isn't this basically just putting a UI on top of configuration profiles?

https://github.com/paulmillr/encrypted-dns

Or does an app have some advantages to it that I'm unaware of?

configuration profiles you need to create the configuration files, send to the device, import.

And if you need to make some changes you need to do it all again..

with this tool you have an interface to configure everything, it only make make the process easier..

This app is hardly better than what you describe though: you still need to install it on all your devices and configure it. Seems hardly any easier than just downloading a pre-made profile from the repo I linked above and installing it. shrug To each their own I guess.

If you are managing many devices I agree, but for just a few.

When I said it was easier I meant for a single device or if you need some unusual configuration.

I have my own dns server, but my devices are already set so not sure will use this.

If I was setting things up today I might give it a try..

Or you can download one from NextDNS.io since you do need another end of the connection.

I have my own DNS server using AdGuard Home that i host in a VPS so i can have adblocking anywhere as i have at home.

But i have to maintain my own configuration profile, that is not hard but kind of a pain to make changes, not that i have to do that often.

Doesn't adguard itself produce configuration profiles as built-in feature?

PS: Device setup > DNS privacy

They may do it for their own public DNS server, but i use their hosted version named "AdGuard Home".

I'm talking about Adguard Home which is the selfhosted open source DNS server and adblocker.

Indeed they have.

I never noticed that they had that..

Thanks for the tip.
