“As long as business - through its investment decisions - controls the supply of jobs; as long as people's livelihood depends upon getting a job, and as long as business is free to move, global liberalism will effectively curb ''democratic excesses.''”

You’re right. To be a success capitalist, you need to be maximally greedy at all times. If you’re not greedy enough, someone else will just come and replace you

> I reject the notion that anyone hearing or reading a word from this list could possibly experience anything properly categorized as "harm".

This is an absolutely absurd take.

The initiative is to remove words from official websites, not about making sure people never hear them. If you see negative language about your race/gender on your school website, you don’t think that’s gonna cause some anxiety? You don’t think that’s gonna make you wonder if you belong there? You don’t think that doubt will impair your ability to fully participate in that institution?

> This way you can search for infractions and more expeditiously accuse and eject your rivals (people whose work is better than yours).

How are you gonna play bully and victim in the same post? Pick a lane!

Since journalists are so overrepresented on twitter, I’ve been wondering if undermining them is a goal here? Business people and conservatives are generally pretty hostile to journalism. It would be a pretty big coup for them if the NYT, Wapo, etc lost eyeballs because Twitter went down the tubes.

Is that worth biting tens of billions on? Probably not. But I’m sure Elon and David Sacks wouldn’t shed any tears if all the preachy lib journalists just disappeared one day!

I’m sure the right-wing label is due to his repeated efforts to legitimize race and IQ science. He probably has lots of opinions that match up with the Democrats, but that one’s really stuck with him.

Well said. This reversal really exposes the court as a political entity imo.

The Supreme Court just ruled that abortion is a question for the states, but concealed weapons laws aren’t. What’s more likely, that this all fits into some complex theory of states rights, or that it’s republican majority siding with the republican party?

I don’t know where these terms come from, but I’ve heard it as Type A is organized, disciplined, uptight and Type B is disorganized, undisciplined, laid back

> The SF tech workers left in droves. What’s left is the homeless and crime.

It’s still 3k for a 1 bedroom, so I’m assuming there are still some tech workers left

SFs evictions and Rent control laws encourage landlords to keep units vacant than rent them out for a discount or to a subpar tenant.

A 1 bedroom apartment in SF has been ~3k for half a decade now. With inflation this means effective price was lowered.

Progressive politics fails us again!

Twitter had a venture led Series A in July 2007

I have a friend witch schizophrenia who’s never been a lot hold down a job. He always talks about the sense of shame he has for not contributing anything to society.

I think the way we bind our identity to our productivity can be super destructive for those of us who are like Zhuangzi’s knotty tree.
