I guess I meant like IndexedDB or alternatives, a database solution for an offline browser or Electron based application. Not sure what options there are these days or best practices.
Just started using, feels amazing and really snappy to use (I've seen many complaints in the other direction). Started organizing all my projects and persona things into kanbans, added some tables for subscriptions and other things I rarely keep track of. Loving it so far, especially how many features are for free.
Why doesn't Apple just buy Peloton and add it to the vast network of Apple products that they can slowly kill and release a better version like they did with Beats?
My theory is that Apple isn't that into low-differentiation devices that aren't directly related to their core businesses. Beats were on the forefront of wireless headphones, which ties nicely into iTunes/etc. While Apple is super into fitness now (because of the watch, as well as the Peloton-style recurring revenue subscription market) the Peloton stuff isn't really groundbreaking hardware: it's an unremarkable bike with an unremarkable display bolted on to it, with an unremarkable app that runs on it, and a remarkable marketing/astroturfing campaign to drive the wheel.
The hardware brand itself isn't that valuable, IMO. Perhaps the subscription revenue is, but Apple doesn't need Peloton's undifferentiated bike or brand name to participate in that market, and has world-class marketers of their own.
Apple probably won't make exercise hardware unless they can make exercise hardware vastly better than what is presently available. Peloton is not that.
Pelosi makes millions during the 'deadliest pandemic in history' and no one turns an eye. Problem is this will fade away like every single other important topic of these ruling elites, who don't give a single f*k about you or me or any social issues.
They are plainly there to shove through their friends interests, profit off of insider information, and get out without going to jail. Every single one of them.
Hey HN, I have been working on this for years and the final product is finally done.
We did a tiny bit of work to rush it out the door in the wake of 'alternative social network' hype, sure. However, we are extremely proud of what we have created, and do truly believe that our system could foster a better environment for thoughtful discussion going forward.
Our team is monitoring this thread and would love to hear any feedback possible.
My mother worked out on the Peloton every single day, didn't miss one workout, and said that she was fine. She experienced mild symptoms and loss of smell and fevers, but other than that she was fine.
My grandmother was rushed to the hospital because she is in the prime age range and has just about every single previous condition you could imagine for someone pushing 90. She was diagnosed with Covid and Pneumonia, felt like shit for a while, and was release and is now fine.
I am not saying the virus is not real or isn't serious, but at some point we need to stop only looking at number of confirmed cases, and start digging a little deeper before we start spreading all of this rash fear.
This is anecdotal evidence and trying to derive patterns from it is dangerous. We know that COVID-19 is much more dangerous than the typical annual flu and we are at risk of overrunning the icus.
Their final paragraph goes beyond just sharing an anecdote and into making prescriptive judgements about how society should approach the virus based on those anecdotes in contravention of the medical consensus. I presume that's the issue people have with it.
At this point the disease has been with us for a year, and we do have a lot of evidence. It's not particularly serious for certain demographics, and incredibly dangerous for others - particularly that of your grandparents. I'm happy your grandparents are okay, though I suggest you not over index on anecdota too. God forbid one of them had died, that anecdote wouldn't necessarily tell us the disease is 50% fatal.
They are developing an online system to determine whether or not a person who "thinks" they are affected should go get a test done and where they can get it done.
Really love how people are on Twitter and other outlets blaming this action on Trump already when it literally has absolutely nothing to do with him and he has opposed almost all action the Fed has taken so far. Social media and the hive mind read the title and not the information mentality is really getting tiring for me..
