Having just recently beaten the Gold stake on Balatro, this is right up my alley. I like that there are leaderboards so I can set goals for myself to attain. Will you come up with a mascot like Jimbo if you gain traction? How much Balatro did you play yourself?
hah, thanks a lot! not sure about a mascot, I like to keep the game simple for the moment. beaten the gold stake on black deck myself (my favorite), still working my way on other decks!
My games on the app store are MobileUO and Sandbox City.
MobileUO is a Unity-port of ClassicUO, which is an open-source C# client for Ultima Online. My hope was to get support from community on Patreon to keep developing it but the financial support didn't really materialize. But it's ok because close to a thousand people seem to be using MobileUO daily to play UO on their mobile devices and are happy with it as it is.
Sandbox City is a really mini-tiny-not-even GTA style game for mobile where the player gets to run around in a city, driving cars, and running over pedestrians and zombies. I'm working on adding more content into the game but it already gives me decent passive income from ads and IAPs. I also have it published on CrazyGames (html5/webgl online game platform) and it is also played a lot there and bring in additional income.
I'd be interested in joining your Discord. My email is in my profile.
Have you ever lived in Istanbul? I've lived there for more than 20 years and I'm not surprised that it is ranked low. Terrible traffic (which makes people angry overall), huge sprawl and population, lots and lots of other problems.
Yep I have and it were some of the most fun times of my life. Every 10 million pop. city has terrible traffic and problems, including those high on that list, and all of their residents think they suck in some sense.
But unlike a lot of the high income expat enclaves the Economist chose to put up in the rankings Istanbul also has genuine culture. It's the most actually cosmopolitan city in the world as far as I'm concerned.
I ported Ultima Online to Android and iOS devices. It's a really old MMO at this point but still has a niche following. New community shards are still popping up and some of them (such as UO Outlands) have high populations.
I opened up a Patreon for the project in hopes that the community and the shard owners would support me enough to keep working on it but I never got past 100 euros per month in pledges. The app does have a stable userbase of around 1000 users though.
Even though it wasn't a financial success by any measure, I'm really proud to have brought my childhood favourite game to new platforms.
In case you're interested, I've recently ported Ultima Online to mobile via Unity+ClassicUO: https://github.com/voxelboy/mobileuo. I'll be publishing a blog post about it soon.
FUCF means Free Unity Consulting Fridays. I had a blast providing these sessions a few years ago and decided to start them up again. This is an easy and fun way for me to give back to the community.
Synergy is quite good if you can make it work reliably with your setup. When I used it with my Mac as the server and my PC as the client, I ran into a bunch of issues such as modifier keys getting (virtually) stuck. Then I switched it around and made my PC the server and my Mac the client and a different set of problems arose. Luckily, there is an active discussion group and it's open-source, so if you were really keen on making it work, you could.
The scripting in Unity is built on Mono, so you can pretty much do whatever you please. The Scripting API is expansive and while there are a few nooks where you can find yourself limited, that's usually the exception. I give free Unity consulting on Fridays and I'd be happy to give you a kick-start into Unity: http://yilmazkiymaz.com/fucf
