Have you tried Lago (open source billing)? This is precisely what they do, their HN launch is here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34773442 They listed the billing engineering nightmares too: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31424450

We looked into them. Unfortunately they’re very expensive.

Lago co-founder here, although we have an Enterprise plan (which, by definition, is for Enterprises), we invest considerable resources in the open-source and free product, used by a lot of early stage companies/bootstrapped projects, let me know if we can be helpful.

I’m referring to the Premium Plan. We are not an enterprise but need a lot of the features offered at that tier, stuff that I feel most businesses need like credit notes and invoices sent by email.

I feel that a pricing product should have more transparent pricing. All the more amusing given that you host a Stripe fee calculator.

'fair pricing' yet no actual, you know, pricing, was such a red flag I didn't even ask for a quote.

It's a massive shame that simple table stakes features are behind "get a quote". Folks, I'm not even sure this makes good business sense; just charge me 0.5% of revenue for premium and set enterprise up as 'get a quote' with enterprise features or 1M revenue plus.

How do you monitor for tax compliance changes, especially for international usage?

I think billing, taxes and entitlements are 3 different products, with obviously strong relationships. I would rather give the advice to rely on a third party tax tool that is connected to the billing engine instead of the "all in one" if taxes are too complex. Otherwise, just use the basic tax codes of Lago's billing engine

Thanks for sharing, super helpful infos!

Should be fixed, if you want to try again :)

Officely's a Slack app (where Café is a iOS+Android+Web app)

Also, Officely have more restrictive features (you can't do everything within Slack)

1. Café can't "automatically correct" your status, but if you're using the Slack integration, you'll see that what's displayed isn't right.

2. We're working on the Calendar integrations (Google Calendar and MS Outlook) to crack that topic

3. Yup, it's even linked with the company's HR system to automatically sync your paid leaves in Café!

Nice, merci!

We thought about that feature, it would be "subscribe to someone" and being able to see your "highlights" as well are your team. I would answer your parking problem I guesss!

Hope your spidey senses are working fine!

We offer a free plan up to 50 seats for team that want to use Café with their own team indeed. The most value comes when the whole company is on the product though.

Thanks for the support

Thanks, really appreciate!

We plan to focus on the Social experience between people (from the same company at first, then we'll see!)

We only use Slack as a display channel because our value is in the agenda visibility.

If Slack rolls out a "work location status" it'll be mostly for the "right now" moment (like our integration) and if they plan to extend this feature in an agenda, it'll be very difficult to make it exist within all the other features that are for "live communication"
