I don't have one, but Ploopy's knob is intriguing (https://ploopy.co/knob/).

LilyGo/TTGo also has some interesting knobs with some unusual features features (force feedback or LCD touchscreen on top of the knob, depending on model) but again I don't have firsthand experience and these might take some DIY

Mac used to have a lot of great shareware from indie devs. Some of them have shut down and their apps will eventually stop working. Kinda annoying when I can play the windows port of a game on windows but not the original Mac version

The fact it is easier for me to play the windows port on wine over the old mac port sometimes is absurd.

You know what they say, win32 is the most stable linux api.

The Cybertruck is over 3 tons, so it's eligible for some specific tax rules that let businesses take the full depreciation immediately instead of over time. Same reason a lot of businesses used to buy Hummers and slap a decal on the side. Idk why we're incentivizing big ass vehicles that put more wear & tear on roads, but it is what it is.

No original research please

Ah, but we could cite Cliff's Facebook page as evidence that he is disputing the reports of his own death. That's at least strong enough to put his earthly existence in the "debatable" column.

Facebook is an unreliable source, and should not be cited.

Clifford Stoll's own Facebook page saying he's not dead can be cited on Wikipedia, even if Facebook itself (or Clifford's non-expert opinions) are unreliable

You laugh, but it's a real problem. In this case: a WP claim that Stoll was dead would quickly fall to the lack of reliable sources indicating his death; naturally, there's a WP policy for this.

If you find one account you can find a few dozen spam accounts by building a graph of what posts they reply to

Most of them have private profiles these days

There are alternate sources that index reddit comments, but it's really frustrating how easy it would be for Reddit to shut the most prolific bots down if they were so inclined

Lots of marketing. Not even AI business, just regular consumer crap. They realized that blatantly spamming their product looks bad, so they orchestrate multiple accounts to look more organic. And people actually engage with it.

Plenty of Linux-y websites use Anubis. Arch Wiki and IIRC some other distros too.

That's less a value judgment, more a necessary evil due to the plethora of bad actors out there. I doubt it will get in the way of a local model used in a reasonable manner.

Most wikis you can mirror locally if you really need to hammer them.

AMC by me shows a surprisingly high number of Indian movies relative to the demographics. I wonder if they have some distribution deal to encourage that... I imagine they would do better with K-dramas.

why would someone buy buy a house if they think it's literally going to be underwater soon?

You say this but there are still a lot of sales for houses in these areas

Keep an eye on the sales number before and after this article drops. Something tells me it will not be going up.

For less and less, presumably? Or is the housing situation so bad that prices rise even when the area will soon be underwater?

It doesn't even matter, really.

Suppose one person follows the sage advice of the HN glibertarians, sells his house and moves out. Good for him. But does this solve the problem? No, because now there's someone else there. Possibly a more desperate, poorer person. They can't all follow your advice, no more than they can all be best in their high school class, run the fastest in the marathon, or being on the winning side of a prediction market bet.

Yes but I feel a lot less bad for the person who sells there house and moves now than the person moving in. Basically what I was trying to show is that the option is still available and people are choosing not to take it so can we really act like they're all trapped in this situation.

Thank you for spelling it out.
