No, it’s not. It gets far more in subsidy that the U.K. system and far worse outcomes. But last minute long distance first class tickets are cheaper so I guess that’s good. Of you’re lucky you’ll arrive within a couple of hours too.
Yes it is. It is a stock company owned, but (mostly) not controlled by the state.
I don't see how your statements about subsidies relate to that point. Plenty of private companies or sectors get subsidized.
Depends. Better as a word is a little too wide to interpret accurately without some additional information to go on. For example, if you look at my post history, you will know that I am not too keen on social media in general. From that perspective, it could be interpreted as a win. And yet, I think most of us here recognize the development as a whole is not 'good' ( since we are going with generic, not-easily-defined verbiage ).
The mechanism is that society/state is structured in a way to allow them to extract ever more money from regular people, with their social/financial/medical security and general govt services like education deteriorating further and further, creating more desperate, disillusioned, disenfranchised people, some of which steal copper.
Properly tax rich people (again), make politicians act in good faith again, actually care for regular people, and things will improve.
