I remember creating account there with pseudo-name for a few years. The admin there one day gotten extremely hostile and request me to give then real biodata. I didnt even consider to contribute anything not even simple comments. Just being quiet user. I would even pay annual subscription to have the site access but not contributing like E. Britanica site. Regardless, I have been extremely detrimental to that website with maybe running a multi year hostile anti-Quora campaign across the world. Quora just made an unnecessary enemy user with me. All I wanted just like HN, probe in, read, and maybe comment a bit maybe once or twice a year. Instead their admins turn very hostile threatening to remove my account simply for not giving them real biodata.
For USA debts, it is falling. The last 3 years Fed need to buy the left over new bills unsold. In the past, 100% being sold to public and sovereign. But the last 3 years spooked US Treasury as routinely only half sold. Janet even had to fly over to China to "kowtow" to Xi to not sell but buy. It wasn't reported much in the west, but widely in the east and exceedingly humiliating if you able to read the chinese reporting. Essentially now, Fed is directly printing money to American public without going through hoops. Coincidentally the last 3 years inflation exceed way higher than 2% even though interest has been increased from 0% to 4+%.
> exceedingly humiliating if you able to read the chinese reporting
Given that what passes for “exceedingly humiliating” is extremely different between the two cultures, this seems more like packaging the transaction to be more palatable for a domestic Chinese audience that dislikes the idea of their leadership doing business with America.
The hardest part is being consistent and acrually using it. I have seen someone less tha. 80 IQ speaking their native language and understand the grammar better than someone with Havard degree both fluency in speaking and expressing their thoughts. The main reason is one have to use it day in day out, the other learn it as "subject" to past exam. Why so many people use babbel and resulted in not able to use the language. Spend 15mins, while native speakers spent 12hrs a day. Polyglots also use this forced immersion. Except they dont want to "brag" they learn that way. Instead just want to show how easy they learn ... naturally.
Yes, consistency is key, but if you're smart about it, it doesn't have to be hard.
The trick is rather to make consistency easy. My own strategy there is aligned with most language enthusiasts: Make your input and conversations engaging! Make them so engaging you partake in those activities independently of the language, or better yet, in spite of the language. Make engagement automatic!
As an example, I've come to adore the French YT channel "ScienceEtonnante", and now watch anything published by it ASAP. I started watching it because I have a masters in physics, and found much of the jargon very easy to pick up as it's often similar to English. That left only the particularities of French itself for my brian to figure out. Now that I can simply lean back and enjoy the show, that is also what I do! It has become my favorite YT channel.
Bush and Obama already did that surveillance thing. I am still waiting for so called Nazi Trump. But instead getting Nazi Joe and Zelenskyy. You hated the wrong person.
This is a bit off topic, but I think it's important to counter propaganda. It's not surveillance that makes one a Nazi. The Nazi playbook 101 starts with attacking all unfavorable media (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lying_press), then you unite the fringe by pointing at defenseless minorities and convince your supporters said minorities stand between them and greatness. You relentlessly erode the judicial system so enough people start to believe the laws don't apply to all citizens equally and you call those people the overwhelming majority. And if you don't get what you want you call for violence. If you are honest with yourself you'll see who plays by those rules.
Nah, I hated Trump since he bullied poor house owners who refused to sell their house next to his new golf course in Meanie, Scotland. This was long before he became president…
He had his contractors build a big wall of dirt around their home because he could. All they could see when they looked out their windows was dirt. They didn’t want money. Only wanted to see the rest of their days in their own home.
Because they lower the price of goods that you are using now and possibly with better features. You do need to care just you don't understand the economics.
Should have started during Obama's time. Now too late. The mid
-segment and low-end chips prices already cornered by the Chinese. The high-end cornered by Taiwanese. The best USA can do now is economic trade barrier on silicon - have to do it now to have a chance recovery within next 5 years before Chinese reach 2nm mass productions especially going for quantum and AI GPUs.
