I don't think Hollywood will die exactly, it will just go the way of other antiquated media. It will stay frozen in time like radio, books, theatre etc. It won't grow, but it won't die.
this is a questionable tactic imho. Although I have heard People say it's cheaper to fly an entire cast and crew to Ireland and film something and fly them back than it is to film in LA
Charlie Munger used to talk about how easy it used to be because there was so much less competition and the competition wasn't that smart. Think by the 70's once they figured out how to accurately price options with the Black-Scholes model things started to ramp up. By that point, Buffett was already a player and had the funds to make moves.
Interesting. I've never heard of that model. So what Munger is implying is that by the 80s even Buffett wasn't beating the market but was leveraging his money for gains. Thanks!
Sorry I didn’t mean Buffett and munger used the option pricing, I mean regular people did. They also got more money by buying up insurance companies and investing the float
"The nation’s air traffic control infrastructure is aging, with 51 out of 138 systems currently labeled as unsustainable — some using components more than 50 years old."
this is okay for the post office or DMV, but probably not as okay for air traffic control infrastructure.
FAA, but not ATCs. I think a lot of the FAA folks were also offered their jobs back, like with other agencies. As a consequence of court decisions and "oh shit, those are actually important jobs".
Would tend to make recruitment more difficult, though. "Yeah, we just had a bunch of people fired by some weird Twitter idiot, but you should totally train for years to come work for us, that couldn't possibly go wrong."
Somehow it seems like the food tastes worse than it used to on top of it. These days I wouldn't normally choose to eat at a McDonalds but sometimes that's the option I have and it always leaves me feeling disappointed, especially given what I paid.
