as a german i do not believe that brexit is actually a root of their problems. it is more that despite advantages thanks to brexit they still fucked it up because their government is a bunch of greedy grifters. eu membership at best takes away some of their power and averages the incompetence and ignorance over several countries (as every member exerts indirectly power over all the other members to some extent). also leaving eu is a long-term project. it's ridiculous to argue that it's a bad thing to do just because the immediate effects are negative. that's always the case if something fundamentally is changed. the eu is a huge bureaucratic self-service shop for the politicians and their minions.

accept, let go and surrender.

I'm quite curious how the current NGO inquiries in Germany are going to pan out. It's no secret that we need a DOGE initiative as well - and that very urgently.

I do not see why doge didn't just **** follow the pre existing reports compiled by several different agencies that were actually studied to produce real results, rather than just shooting blinding and firing people while calling it a day

And Linux Mint Cinnamon to replace MacOS ... how bout that?

OT. I like Linux, but this thread is about macOS.

you're in denial.

i mean ... is it possible to move a file? the context menu doesn't seem to have a corresponding entry.

currently have a weird situation where a bunch of folders are arranged horizontally and go beyond the right border of the window. but there is no horizontal scroll bar indicating that.

the windows xp/nt/2000 file explorer is the pinnacle of file exploring experience. basically every linux file explorer just more or less copied it - for good reason. but no - apple has to reinvent the wheel and came up with a messed up hexagon.

not sure _how_ relevant it is at the bottom line but you are aware that o3 was trained very likely on those same problems form mathoverflow? cause you know - the underlying llm was trained on pretty much everything available oline - especially high quality sources like ... mathoverflow.

I was posting questions from the last week, so not in o3 training data.

everything provided by offshoring to india is just an expensive tech debt full of spaghetti code. it simply doesn't work and causes harm to the customers. but because cheap it keeps getting sold. working with indians is a nightmare bar none. and i'm saying this as someone who has been to india and is also personally intrigued by its culture. but it's conway's law all the way - visit places like mumbai or delhi and this is what you'll get ... chaos that kind of works.

I think this is a bit unfair and biased to make such broad statements as you are doing here. From my experience, the outsourcing company rarely takes the time to properly onboard outsourced workers, they are not treated as part of the team, and the really shitty work that no-one else wants to do is the work that gets outsourced.

I reckon there's a lot of "garbage in garbage out" going on, and if an org took the time and effort to actually treat Indian (or any outsourced team) devs like their own, things will be much better. But when you do that the overhead shoots up, and that cost/benefit analysis you did during the proposal to offshore flies out the window.

the quote doesn't state what you intend to refute.

I'd argue Germany is the better Muslim country.

maybe not dictatorship but blatant abuse of power by the government.
